Just some legal protection in case of a police sting. of course in CR since it is legal there should be no rpoblems with pago despues.

Some ? Little ? None ?

The general consensus I've seen is "none".

this actually worked for me. Feeling particularly lonely in atlanta one time. Met a girl at a bar, obviously hooking. As it turns out it was obvious because she was a police officer. We get to the room, despite her trying to get me to say something, I just nodded at the envelope. We were about ready to get down, she grabs the envelope and the cops come in. I guess they thought they had enough of a case. We talk for a moment, they're trying to get me to say something. I finally say "ok, i'd like to report a robbery". They are taken aback and I say "this woman stole my money". They're like "we have it on video". I say "so do I" and nod at my cellphone sitting on the nightstand. Cop takes the envelope and I say "open it". "how much is in there?". He says "$500". And I say " and I think there's a $1 bill in there too". This is an old tactic I used to pressure girls who tried to scam me, although I never envisioned this situation. "officer, I do believe Anything over $500 theft is a felony. I would like to press charges." he gets all bowed up and threatens to handcuff me. I say "I'd love that. I will have a field day with you in court." they left, of course saying all kinds of nasty things... But they left.

I think I said something like (not a direct quote) "next time pick a sucker with a single digit IQ so it's a fair fight"

I also remember saying something like "if you want to catch johns you might want to find a better-looking ho"

SR

You apparently are a VERY lucky fellow. Do you pick football games ?

Obviously you didn't say the magic words to her while MAKING the deal. IF you had you never would have made it to the room whether she was wired (and I'd be surprised if she hadn't been).

And since you didn't say the magic words in the room the female cop probably wasn't the most experienced otherwise she wouldn't have grabbed the $$$ knowing she had no case. She should have just made her excuses and left you with blue balls.

And wising off to the cops is a VERY bad idea no matter WHAT is going on. You got really lucky there.

Not so. You have A LOT to learn about dealing with the cops. {snip}

They are public servants, just like me. Beyond their required duties and obligation to protect the public, they have no power.

Ahhhhhh, I see. So, in other words, so long as *I* am on the right side of the law, it's OK to wise off with a cop.

Yeah, right !!!

The problem is most people are overly fearful of getting arrested. I have been arrested twice for arguing with a cop. It doesn't scare me, and once the bullies realize I'm not scared they usually back off. Now most of the officers I've dealt with were professional and I treated them as professionals.

But in the last 30 years I've run into a few bullies, and I don't let them lord over me.

Out in the open, I agree. They got you where nobody's looking and you mouth off, a beating or worse is possible. And I think most folks would take a cop's word over mine. :D

All sarcasm aside... that is exactly right. You can roll your eyes all you want. If you are on the right side of the law, he has no power. I have a shitload of power in my job as a federal employee (I can tell Air Force One to go Phuck himself if I need to), and I use it when I have to. Conversely, I also get all over my fellow employees when they abuse that power. I am constantly saying "Dude, you DO NOT have the authority to tell that pilot to do that". You are GOD when you have to be, but you are also a public servant. ALWAYS remember that.

The FBI, Sherrif's dept., police, customs, etc. need my permission, every day, to do their job in MY airspace. Just like the trainman in the Matrix... in my airspace, you're nothing, here, I AM GOD. Arrogance is a good thing, when it's used appropriately.

As I have written on this and many other boards, many other times before...

I post on what I know about, and I listen on the many threads I do not post on. On those threads, I keep my freakin' cake hole shut.

I know what I'm talking about here. You should listen.

SR

Pretty funny. I don't care HOW much power YOU have. So now you know how police EVERYWHERE act under EVERY circumstance ? Man you DO get around, don't you ?

I've lived in NYC ALL my life, known a number of cops personally and they know how to hurt you without leaving a mark.

And the old "resisting arrest" ? Ya never heard of that one ?

Ever heard of Rodney King ? Of course you have but the only reason you have is because there was a camera around when the cops didn't know it. If you don't think that kind of shit (mostly to a lesser degree of course) along with arresting people on trumped up charges JUST BECAUSE they pissed a cop off then you're living in Fantasyland.

And one of the reasons there are fewer(?) incidents of this kind is because the cops know the cameras are "EVERYWHERE".

And to think I DEFEND Federal type employees - maybe you guys really DON'T know what's going on in your own country.

eom

In the Houston area, I've never had a runin with police where no one else was around. I'd think twice though if there were no witnesses. I like the fact that most people walk around with cel phones that have cameras now. Bully cops have to wonder who's filming their actions.
