I have an older GSM quad band unlocked smartphone that I have used in CR with a Kolbi simm. I would like to gift it to a chica whose phone has broken. She has an internet plan. I never did. Will her simm card work in it or are there more restrictions? I am not currently there to try it.

the internet function is tied to the Kolbi service on the sim, not the phone. Your phone needs to be unlocked AND have a web browser for the internet to work.

Please let us know if that worked, I am thinking of changing my Kolbi SIM to include internet but I read a few things that worried me: one, ICE has shut off internet to rechargeable SIMS that were not issued before a certain date, and two, certain unlocked phones need to re-programmed with their "coordinates" for lack of the correct term.

Thanks in advance. I'll be down in late Jan and will try a new SIM with internet with an unlocked Motorola Karma.

DGD,

1. Yes, ICE had decided to turn off internet after a certain date, but they later changed their minds and offer internet on all existing and new SIMs.

2. "Re-programming" just means that you configure the phone to accept their 3G signal. Their access point is: kolbi3g
