I wouldn't worry about the age thing. Contrary to what you might think there are more and more young guys travelling to CR for P4P. I've seen plenty of dudes in their 30s and 20s at the SL and the HDR. Not to mention the old guys are friendly and approachable for the most part. Most chicas won't care if you're 18 or 80 as long as you have the $$ and aren't a tool.


Sounds like Zorro, located on the Mansion's 2nd floor. I think it's the only one in the Mansion with a queen bed. However, last time I stayed there it didn't have a jacuzzi, just jac jets in the tub.

Zorro is the least expensive (and smallest) room in the Mansion. But it's a fine room, you'll enjoy it - I had some fun times there.

The layout is a little odd - long and narrow, with the bed facing the window as you enter, a flat screen TV on a dresser in the room's corner, and the bathroom at the far end, up one step.

another word of advice from one fairly newbie to another make sure you utilize the safe in room put everything in there when i go down there i put everything but my clothes in there also have the front desk may a copy of ur passport and carry that and leave real one in safe. When i go out i take like 100 or 200 bucks at a time and leave rest of cash in room whatever ur gonna pay the girl u can take out at the time. also if you have a mini bar in room lock it up as alot of chicas will clean you out and most of all enjoy yourself cause youve never seen anything like the del rey

Good point on "paying with the quoted currency". The Del Rey clerk tried to rip me off about two years ago. They price in colons and I wanted to pay in dollars, he figures the conversion rate and gives me the bill, I had a pocket calculator on me, and he was $32 off, in his favor of course. Also, with any dollars you bring in, they may not take them if torn or written on.

Not all ATMs are equal. I would strongly recommend against using any outside ATM, but specifically, the one located in the Governmenet building across from Parque Morazon, on the Sportsmen Lodge side should be avoid. Any of the ones in the casinos are normally OK, the Del Rey and the Colonial are both OK as far as I know.

I suggest using Banco Costa Rica machines and Banco Nacional........Only because the fees are not ridiculous like the ones found in the del rey or in a grocery store or anything like that. Every time I take out of BCR it is like $4 a transaction...... Some of these others are $14 or more........

But if you are concerned with safety, the above listed are pretty good except th girls and others see you doing it.....

I wasn't being tongue-in-cheek. I probably wouldn't have made it HHL if you and Antonio Banderas didn't bring me there. Certainly wouldn't have gone with the girl I did had you guys not recommended her.

I have used the AtMs at the government building numerous times with no problem. I do what the locals do, not what the gringos do. The dr atms are also ok but it will show up on you bank statement as The Hotel Del Ray, which could haunt you at some point. I have used them when I have had "lust in my hart" which is quite often in the HDR.

$4 at BCR? I have never seen a charge that big on a withdrawal at BCR. I think I saw like 900¢. I have a credit union account at home, maybe that's why. I have never been charged a dime at HDR.

I am talking about my international charge from my bank. Any time it is more, I am using a machine that is not hooked to a bank...... Of course the machine says 900 colones when you are doing your biz. I think it is your credit union thing......Cuz another guy told me the same thing......
