The San Jose Embassy no longer offers walk-in service for passport renewals or adding extra pages to your existing passport. You must make an appointment.

Perhaps you should reread the post immediately prior to mine. I added additional information relative to that post and I imagine anyone who was going to use the passport service at the Embassy would be grateful to have that information rather then go there and find out they should have made an appointment.

Sorry you were unable to make the connection.

Most Passport can be done in one day if you live in a major City like New York, Chicago, Miami Fort Lauderdale or Tampa you can have your passport in 1 Day. It will cost you the $110.00 for the Fee and $55.00 to expedite the process. all you have to do is buy your ticket if your are going to travel in a week before you leave go to the Federal Building in your City and they will Issue you a new Passport. I have done it before and it work.

You guys just scared the crap out of me. I am leaving for the DR in a couple of hrs. I had no idea about these regulations. I knew my passport has 2 months left on it. I was going to renew next month. Then I read all this.

I made several calls and as it turns out the DR only requires you to be covered for the presumed length of your trip. So I'm ok. But they also said you need 3 months cover time for CR. I don't know how someone got 6. I went to CR 3 months ago, which means I had 5 months left on my passport. I had no problems.

Due to the fear of being denied entry to CR due to limited validity of my passport I opted for the expedited renewal. Paid $110 renewal fee + $60 expedite fee + $25 round trip overnight mailing fee, = $195 total.
Mailed it on monday last week, received back on saturday last week, a 5-day total turnaround. Super rapido!!!
