I will be making my first trip to Costa Rica solo Dec 5-9(Mon-Fri). The anticipation is killing me and I think I've read damn near every thread on this board, so I figured I would introduce myself and ask a few questions.

I'm relatively young at only 27. My only experience with P4P is limited to a few sessions in Amsterdam during a backpacking trip and one drunken night in a German whore house. I'm not worried about travelling solo, but I have never done it before. It seems most of the guys there will be at least 20 years older than me. I have no problems partying with some older guys, and I'm sure I could learn a thing or 2 from you guys. Will I stick out like a sore thumb being so young? I'm pretty tall so I already stick out wherever I go. I do plan on taking Pops tour.

I already booked a room at the Sportsmens. I was told my room is some kind of minisuite with a jacuzzi and queen bed in the mansion wing for $109 a night, but I can't find anything matching that description on the website. Any idea what room this could be?

I know there are many opinions on this, but how do you handle your cash? I have always taken cash out of ATM's while travelling abroad because my bank (Capital One) charges 0% conversion charge and no fees for international ATM transactions. Though my bank account was compromised after my last trip overseas so I'm not so sure ATM's are the best option, especially in a developing country like Costa Rica. Carrying over $1500 in cash just makes me nervous. How much cash do you normally exchange when you arrive? I plan on paying using Colones for most things. I assume SL accepts both currencies?

I bring cash (maybe 500 to 800) and then exchange at the bank or the casino next to the delrey (same exchange as the bank but only will take $200 at a time) the ATM in the Delrey has been the one I been using for the last 5 years .....its one near the casino tables ....no drama with that machine (but max is $200 at a time) pretty sure any room in the sportmens with a jacuzzi in it will be sweet ....you will have a blast ...get a phone and your trip will improve ...write a trip report

You are not the first younger guy to ask about age on here. As it pertains to chilling out, your age does not matter......I am older than you, but by no means 20 years older. What matters is how you handle yourself. So don't sweat your age, just act like you have been there before and all will go well.

As for money, you are better off getting money out of the ATM's there are ones at the airport and all over San Jose.....

I am always here so hit me up before you get to town and we can have a drink or two with Bill at the lodge.....

I bring cash as well, Sportsmen Lodge has a room safe etc.. And yes you will semi stick out being young and tall but thats not necessarily a bad thing. Go and have fun, remember these experiences as you only have one 1st trip. Each trip yo take will get better and better.. Welcome aboard, let us know how you trip went

Age doesn't matter. Not all guys are 40-50+, there are plenty of us in the 30's and even 20's. I wouldn't worry. The only thing that matters is money. Your younger age may even be a plus as far as getting the hotter chicas who would prefer a younger, fitter, better looking client.

For only 4 nights, $1500 should be enough. You can bring the cash. Exchange all the money you plan to use for girls, food, drinks at the airport bank (upstairs, not the currency exchange windows that rip you off). Leave hotel money in dollars (read the next paragraph)Then stick all the money in the safe in your room and only take out what you need. Make sure you lock the safe, especially when leaving the room or inviting girls over.

Tip: pay for things in the currency the price is quoted in. In this case, SL quotes the rooms in dollars. When you pay in colones, they have to do a conversion and it's usually at about a 5% hit to you. If the rate is 505, and you pay in colones, they will convert them about 520. This is common among all hotels, restaurants, bars, car rental places, etc. The girls will accept either currency. To make it simple they will convert at 500:1. For example, $70 or ¢35,000.

It will only be my second trip, but I will be from 3-12 Dec (not staying at SL but I def be hanging there some). Cash is King man. $1500 for 4 days is PLENTY even if you double down with the chicas for a few sessions (still negotiate though), drink more than you body can normally handle and eat like a king. I think we range in all ages here but 27 is a good age, so I wouldn't worry (I was the youngest of any guys I met last time at 38...ha) and being tall CAN be a plus just like in the States (I'm 6'4" so I hear ya on that). Basically some chicks dig tall dudes and some don't, but even if they don't, you'll still get laid....LOL. Seriously though, be prepared for you view on a lot of things to change as a result of your trip (for the better). You'll have a blast brother. See ya there.........

I guess I should add this. Don't worry about the negotiating as much as finding a chick who you think digs you at least a little. It will make your experience much better than a blow up doll that lays there. I am not saying you can't get what you want just by flashing your wad, but why start there. Since this is your first trip might be overwhelmed with all the advice and all the women. Remember the law of attraction still works even with working girls..... Just do your thing and flash the girls a smile.......It just might work.........

Blow up doll that lays there sounds like Amsterdam. This approach makes sense, I don't see how a session could be any good after negotiating a list of things to do with the girl. Unfortunately I am not fluent in Spanish. I took it in high school and have been trying to brush up as much as possible, but I still have a long way to go.

I wouldn't have paid any of them...but I grew wise by day #3 of that first trip

I came down and never left......That was over 12 years ago....... I would not worry so much about the p4p and just come down and do your thing and see what fits you best....... Just because p4p is so readily available does not mean you will have to even go there unless you want to.......

Negotiating advice! It is very important that sometime before you pull the trigger to discuss price. She may even bring it up. If you are patient they will normally give you a price without you asking then you offer what you want to pay. The Del Rey and Key Largo is a must to negotiate price and details. Only 30-40% are good providers out of those places and they will renege on deal so beware. Do not pay upfront with any girl. The sportsman is a lot better experience for most guys, the girls know if they do not perform well or take advantage they may get banned. This past trip they offered price very early on in conversation, such as cien for two girls special or quickly stated $70. I usually counter offer and they accept. I still get burned at times when dealing with Del rey and Key Largo girls sometimes they make like they do not understand you. Especially when it comes to time with you. They want to get it over and get back to work. Good Luck and Interview them well.

that is great advice but something few people seem to be capable of. big eyes and a spinning head will most definitely attract opportunists of all kinds.
