"our of the KGB museum (off limits to the general public -- I saw the remnants of Powers' U2), good sightseeing trips every day we were there."

Unaware of it off limits was there 8-9 years ago also ( we must have missed each other) and saw it. Along Red Army and opening of the New WW2 museum among others -- along with a Mafia 6 man hit out side the RED army-- I told the Russians I am with "those are shots get down"-- "no there not" - "I am a American I know gun fire get down":, grabbed the little K*** and hit the ground-- the adults and the lady I was with then decided to hit the ground also...Dam what a great trip, the taxis, running road blocks , driving on side walks, Vodka with black bread and pig fat - I can still taste that--

But like you Srilm, I wised up to that and changed to a the temporary wife route and never looked back. But I did find this show for the most part fair , but did think at least the old guy would really look better in DR or SL then with is arm around that young lady in the show.

What I did find interesting on the show was when they talked to the ladies about why they could not find a man in Columbia. The ladies then went in to list of what the Co men did not do and it sounded like advice given given to newbies on how what to do to have a really great time, Respect fun, don't be just about the sex, talk to them ( learn Spanish so you can do that) treat them like people even if for just a few minutes or a few hours, ... etc etc

So we do have some very wise sages advising newbies here, as confirmed by a out side source.

I have learned (The Hard way) Not to give out my phone number - No email address – or any other type of info to any chica.
If you do, you are helping her put the ring through your nose.
NO NO NO…

I agree with not giving out your principal email address but it makes a good argument for having a spoof address for Chicas, overly-insistent insurance salesmen and the like.

Yes, if one does not have the ability to say no, is easily manipulated, or very gullible, they should not give out their information. You shouldn't even probably go abroad mongering in the first place.

Doesn't matter who you are, it's fatal to be caught on the wrong side of a Russian power struggle, especially if Vlad the Impaler is on the other side. Remember he was KGB back in the day.

Disagree. Chica wants my email address? No problem.

10 years & 31 trips later, I have yet to get my first rfm, even though I communicate with a number of them off & on. It's all in the tone you set with them.

Did anybody else watch this? It was comical.

They found the worst looking 100 Colombianas and presented them to 10 desperate losers.

There was only 1 very good looking woman that they showed on camera. The one that the creepy old guy was trying to hook up with. She was 20 years old, he was like 65. The look on her face was priceless, she was so uncomfortable.

BTW-Lisa Ling is not hot.

Amen; agree w/ you 100%

I thought the show was terrible, b/c the guys seemed to be sincere about finding wives - but the hosts (Lisa and some guy) seemed intent on making smarmy comments about how the guys were really there for "something else"  It got old and irritating quick. F__k her!

She could not get off that theme and it was like you attended a funeral, and someone comes up to you and keeps asking "You are really here just for the lunch afterwards, right?"

Talk about trying to a make a show about something that its not. If they wanted to go for other reasons, a Marrige Tour is not the way to go for many reasons.

I did think the old guy w/ the cute 20 year old would have fit right in at the DelRey - all he was missing were the shorts, loud shirt, and ugly sandles. Reminded me of many I have met in CR who seemed "Ignorant and happy to remain so" - what I mean is she was 20 and cute - he was old and not! :)

I think Senordos gives a pretty good synopsis of program.
I found the show to be entertaining…kind of like watching a bloopers show.
Just wanted to add a few observations to the others:

• I thought it was interesting that only four of the ten men attending allowed their face to be shown.  (Funny that the older guy…Lamar, I think…had no problem going on camera. He struck me as a HDR veteran…Chasing the youngin’s.)

• It was truly funny to watch the 40-something guy from Texas (we’ll call him Mr. Houston)…out on a lunch date with a 42-year old Colombiana…speaking sincerely about what he looks for in a woman…and looking…directly at the interpreter. A bit awkward…But not near as awkward as when the discussion of K*ds comes up…she wants ‘em, but Mr. Houston has been snipped. The interpreter struggled with that one for a second.

• The ladies problems with Colombian men sounded exactly like Costa Rican women’s comments about Ticos. (unfaithful, lazy, etc.)

• Quote of the show:  Lisa Ling is talking with the owner/creator of the marriage tour, and she asks him if, rather than marriage, isn’t this really nothing more than a “sex tour”? His response…”If it was just about sex, you could do it much cheaper by going to Costa Rica.” (Poor Costa Rica…taking another bashing.)

• There was one moment in the program that actually demonstrated the tremendous difference between Latinas and Americanas, and could easily have been used to explain one reason why many men visit Latin Countries…passion.
Mr. Houston is out on another date. At one point, Lisa Ling sees the couple holding hands and wonders aloud why they’re holding hands since it’s only their first date. When Lisa shares this with the interpreter, she’s told that the couple has also kissed. Lisa is shocked by this fact. To me, that scene spoke volumes. Here in the U.S., that “first date” kiss is such a big deal…will it happen…maybe…maybe not. But in Latin countries, the kiss is part of the first date…no problema. The hand holding incident, and Lisa’s reaction, simply reinforces those cultural differences, and why many of us would rather spend our time in the company of a Latina…Passion.

I think this might make for an interesting reality show...Wife Hunters International.

Salud!

FYI: They aired an update show that included "Online Brides" the other night. The Houston Guy and the 40 year old with the K*D got married. There are communication issues but they are still together.

If you want to go on a real no BS tour, I can recommend one. I will shamelessly plug www.ilovelatins.com. I know the guy who runs the tour. When I saw the ad for the aforementioned program on OWN, I thought it was going to be about his agency. Not just an individual.

The owners name is Sam Smith, he is from Houston and runs a legit agency. I have attended the tour, but I didn't pay for it. Let me explain.... my current novia is from Barranquilla. Her, her aunt and several of her friends have attended the tour hoping (seriously, they are HOPING) to find a good man. I happened to be in Barranquilla last June when one of the tours was taking place. Her aunt and friends were attending the event and invited us to go along. We went. I got introduced to Sam and he graciously allowed my novia (also a former attendee to the events. Sam knows her as well.) and I to participate in all the events of the tour. It was a lot of fun actually. In my opinion of the 300 or so females that were in attendance, I would have been interested in about 20% of them. But, I only go for 7's or better. No questions asked, only 7's or better.

I met several of the guys who were in attendance. They came from all over the USA. Some were pretty cool dudes and others..well...losers. But, if someone is really serious about finding a good marriage tour, this one is legit and Sam is a very cool guy.
