If you are in a foreign country and you let yourself reach the position where you can not even pay $28 , then you deserve to be arrested and deported. Seriously. The last thing CR needs is another street bum. Nobody travels internationally without a credit card. At least nobody over the age of 18 usually. Even if you had your CC stolen, you can usually make a call and get an emergency advance from them.

Other options..

- Pay the tax when you arrive
- carry your money in a money belt. Especially when traveling
- carry only what cash you plan on using each night. leave the rest in the safe in your room, along with all your debit and credit cards as well
- Make some friends in country.. you know, so you can bum $30 if you have too, lol.

If nobody paid membership fees here, there wouldn't be a "here". Server space and bandwidth doesn't come free you know. Nor does the time commitment that the Admin puts in on keeping this place running. I'm not saying that everyone should have to pay. But if a member gets any use or benefits from what they read on this board then it's only smart to help support it, IMO.

Leaving the country is leaving the country. Just out of curiosity does anyone know why it is cheaper to leave by land than when you fly?

Not that anybody dosen't deserve to make alot of money, but your post is not accurate at all. I'm in the IT industry. The site costs no more than $100 a month to rent (a little more than the the price of a high end dedicated server rental). Its running free forum software and is barely updated. Off the advertising alone, this site makes a great profit. Some of the 'free members' here contribute the best content. 'Vegas Bob' comes to mind. 'Seahawk' is another one. The list goes on. Sad that it has come to this sort of 'division'.

To reiterate, as a VIP, you are paying for extra content and access to photo galleries and whatever discounts the membership allows you. Please don't treat it as a 'donation' and see yourself so high and mighty above the 'free' members, because the site would do just fine without you. There are multiple revenue streams here. Certainly enough to sustain the site without a single VIP member.

Honestly, I do not know for sure, but I am guessing it has to do with Airport taxes versus walking or driving across...... just a guess though...

CRT Forum Rules Regulations & Code of Conduct:

There are some rules of this discussion forum, most have been unwritten, most deal with respect and common sense some are things we take very seriously and will not tolerate.

As you know, we bend over backwards in order to maintain freedom of expression, thoughts, and ideas as well. There have been times due to blatant attempts to disrupt this forum, where drastic measures have been taken i.e. banning.

Here are some simple guidelines to follow yet policies that will be enforced!

Just a reminder Guys regarding our Policy Here at CRT. We are all gentlemen and I can say without hesitation we have had no trouble here as it pertains to any of these issues but we wanted to reiterate what we believe is a policy that is to be followed by all.

1. Any person who in any way shape or from attempts to discuss, promote, or receive information regarding illegal activities as it relates to minors will be banished immediately. Furthermore this person will be reported to the Costa Rican & US Authorities

2. We here at CRT do not in anyway shape or form, promote, pimp or act in anyway towards the solicitation of prostitution that would violate any of the laws that are set forth by the Costa Rican Government. We abide by the rules set forth and hope that all of our members also follow suit.

3. Any discussion of illegal drugs in any way shape or form is strictly prohibited.

I am sure everyone agrees with this and nobody will have a problem with our actions as it pertains to the above. Remember this is for the protection of all members but we have a Zero Tolerance level on any of the above.

4. Respect: We can all agree to disagree, but do so in a manner suitable as gentlemen. If you feel that things are getting personal in nature, take your disagreement to the area of private message. We also encourage respect not only for each other, but for the ladies as well.

5. There will be no flaming allowed on the board or in private messages. Any threats made public or private, will be handled swiftly and harshly. If you have a problem with a particular poster and or a threat, of any kind public or private please send me a pm or email with the contents of problem and it will be handled immediately. Before action is taken, I will discuss each situation before taking final action with the appropriate parties.

6. Any person who willingly makes unfounded accusations or statements regarding any member of the board or the board itself will be given a warning. A continued effort will result in the poster being banned. Use common sense and this situation can easily be avoided.

7. All private messages are indeed private. Any cutting and pasting of private messages into the public forum will cause for that poster be given a warning. Any follow up of the same incident will be result in the poster being banned.

8. The board is for sharing of information between fellow CRT members VIP or not. There is a fine line between sharing information and using this forum for someone’s own personal agenda for solicitation and or advertising. If you want to share something of value fine, but continued promoting of a particular product, web site, service that you may own is strictly prohibited. Simply stated do not use this forum as your own personal area of advertisement, your post will be deleted and you will be provided an explanation via PM. Any second offense will be considered a violation and you will be banned.

9. Any threats made towards another board member public or private will be handled accordingly. This is one of the most serious matters addressed here and we do not tolerate any types of threats and the offender is subject to immediate banning.

10. Please do not post any photos inside of threads on the discussion forum. The drawing of photos from outside sources slows down the board and the ability for our members to view it. (Thank you for your consideration).

11. Please do not place any hyperlinks to photos or videos that contain pornography. The board is public and these links can be viewed by anyone. Thank you!

12. Do not change your Avatar. Avatars are for VIP flags and lifetime VIP Flags only. If you want to create a signature that gives your profile some character please feel free to do so, but keep in mind item #8 as well as make sure your signature is of an appropriate nature. If you are going to use a small photo in your signature please make sure it is no larger than 125 x 125 in size and should contain NO pornographic material!

13. Please do not post the same post in multiple threads. Entering this once is more than enough. Also do not post multiple threads in different sections of the forum.

14. If you start a topic and or thread, once the topic has responses to it and a discussion begins, do not delete and or edit the orginal topic. Removal of the orginal topic causes confusion and disrespects those who have taken time to respond to your topic. The edit feature is not to be used for this purpose.

I consider this board to be your board. It was formed so that each of us could exchange ideas, experiences, thoughts, and share them with others.
