Anybody can create a username and not be held accountable for what they write. Doing this as a non-member gives you less cred because there have been others in the past who have created free usernames to post silliness or whatever..

But if you have been a non paying cheap ass..er, I mean poster for years on end then it prolly doesn't apply..

Not entirely accurate. Most members who live here and therefore have no use for the majority of discounts offered are VIP members. If you want to see pictures you can access all kind of sites on the net for free that have all the pictures you could ever want or need..

The membership fee is to support the board. Spin it any other way just does not work. I really do not care if you pay or not pay but don't try to justify your decision not to pay by claiming to post valuable information. You can post valuable information and also pay a few bucks a month to support the board. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

I haven't even been to CR yet but but the knowledge from some of the more senior board members who've been there a bunch of times has been invaluable. Even before taking into account the various CRT membership discounts at places like SL et. al., I'd wager that the membership here has already paid for itself a couple of times over in terms of money not wasted and time saved.

I had an experience which relates to the topic on my very first trip to Colombia a few ago. I was at the airport making my way through customs. I handed the lady my passport and ticket but she appeared to want something more. She did not speak any English and pointed me to a guy sitting at a table. I walked over to him very confused and he didn't speak any English either. We tried communicating for a few minutes while a short line of people started to develop behind me.

He finally, in what seemed a moment of exasperation, gave me a piece of paper and pointed me to the lady where I initially came from. I handed her this piece of paper and was promptly passed through to the Airline boarding area.

I later learned that this piece of paper was the exit tax. I had the cash but I got away for free that day.

So we are discussing the fact that non-paying members don't pay because they have soooo much money that they don't need the discounts?
