I don't understand most of this post, but all of my friends under 50 think Panama sucks to live in... but good riddance to the perverted old gringos on a pension. Nobody will really miss you guys (somebody had to say it).

Ah, infinite wisdom from the narrow minded, holier than thou, sanctimonious twat squad... Just where has anyone posted their age on this thread?

I got news for you bucko, if you are lucky, which I doubt, you too will one day be a member of the over-50 victim of fate crowd, although I somehow doubt you will make it that far with your attitude...

And yes, somebody had to point out your stupidity...

Once you understand that is CVCap reinvented in a new ID you know what to expect when he posts his usual racist, sexist, ageist and whatever other crap he can think up to cause trouble.

He is a provocateur and the best thing to do is just ignore him

I hear mixed reviews on Panama. I think when the move comes I will just go a little farther and set up in Medellin. Nicaragua still a possibility. Have had a good run in Costa Rica and would always come back from time to time if I end up leaving. I don't hate the place by any means. I'm just not the type that loves and defends countries. I've lived in a few different countries, consider myself a citizen of the world. That's why I don't give a shit about any flags or feel that I am "lucky and grateful" to be anywhere other than on the planet. Borders and flags are something I wasn't consulted about and didn't sign up for. This mindset does alienate me at times, but don't misunderstand, I am respectful of the people of whatever country I happen to be in at the time. Just not a rah rah sort of guy. :D

I'm hardly a defender of Costa Rica, however my point is many people are talking about Panama as the 'go to' spot, but mostly its because they save a few dollars. If you think CR is boring, wait till you get to Panama. For the most part the locals are ugly and the rest are Colombian prostitutes. You will never really meet that diamond in the rough in Panama. Besides Panama City is hot as hell and dirty just like San Jose. Its not a huge step up like some describe, and yes, I've been there maybe 50 times. Places in the mountains are just boring, but I guess would suit a pensioner couple on a $1000 a month budget better than CR. If you live on $1000 a month however, your life would pretty much suck wherever you go. Maybe suck less in Panama I guess cause the price of rice might be cheaper?

Was talking with a friend about this the other day and he forwarded me information from a place called live and invest overseas. They aren't selling anything, just compare places to live outside US. It is mostly on economic stuff, but pretty interesting. If you are curious to see their take on it, pm me with an email address and I'll forward it to you.

What's keeping you here then? Sounds like you have no desire to be in Costa Rica.

Good article. People are starting to take notice everywhere of the stupidity of the gov't here. Please spare me CR rah rah fans. Even smart Ticos are starting to realize. There is a viral video going round called Costa Risa, which is a parody of clowns running the gov't. Countdown now to someone throw out the good old "love it or leave it"! :D

As Americans, we really shouldn't criticize any government.

As Americans, we "should" believe in criticizing any gov't, including our own. Costa Rica is not bad by any means, but educated Ticos also see the folly in what has been going on over the last five years.
