it's been a whole year since i've been back but i always enjoy the Halloween festivities. i've kinda fallen for the beach of Sosua, DR but i wanna come back and renew old friendships. plus i need some dental & medical work. as usual, i will be camping at La Amistad with Matt & the gang.

I'm trying to get away that weekend also. I'll keep you posted

I'll be staying at the Amistad 10-20 - 10-23 and then moving on to Jaco until Thanksgiving. Would love to meet up with a group as I'll be flying solo and thus an easy prey for the DR sharks!

I may come back to SJ for Halloween too. Playing it by ear for now.

It's official, I'm coming back to SJ and staying at the Amistad on 10-30 & 10-31 as well. Got the last rooms available!

i'm arriving from LA via Houston on the morning Continental flight around 11:45. i should be in 313. i plan to hit the ground running. look me up or send me a pm here.

they are always on saturday night. i plan to go to HLH party first, then SL and then HDR with my trusty camera at the ready. gotta shoot all those great costumes and the bods they partially cover.

I did not know that! I was wondering why the Amistad had a room available for Halloween night. I'll see what I can do to change my plans.

Does anyone know if there will be other Halloween parties (the good kind (CRT) and the lame kind (non-CRT) on the 31st? I have a non-mongering friend coming to SJ for Halloween night and so need to know what other regular bars or clubs you would suggest if any.

Amistad and HLH sold out for the 29th but the Amistad recommended Hotel Castillo right down the street. Called and luckily they had a room available. Probably not the best hotel but at least I'm there. Game on!!

consider yourself fortunate to get any room!! they are very scarce in the gultch on halloween weekend. the parties are all scheduled to fit the schedule of visiting gringos. that is why they are saturday night. that way we can still leave if we must on sunday and be back to work monday. i kinda doubt there will be any organized party on monday. but i could be wrong.

The newer rooms at the Castillo are not bad. I stayed there on last trip both in the new and the old rooms. I prefer the new ones. Enjoyed the company at the outside bar. Breakfast provided but very simple. Pura Vida!

There aren't any parties on Halloween itself, as the Halloween as we know it (having origins in pagan rituals) here in the USA doesn't exist in a heavily Catholic country like CR. The parties are hosted by gringo-owned establishments for the purposes of gringos and the hookers, that's why they are on Saturday.

Let's just plan to meet. I'll be arriving Saturday the 29th. I know the Ticas will be in costume but is anyone else planning on donning a costume for the festivities? I may go down to the vintage store and see if they have any cheesy 70's stuff but need to know if it's customary to dress up for this joyous occassion.

i never have. the girls take it pretty seriously though. if you want to get in the spirit maybe just bring a simple mask. some guys do wear costumes but the girls have us outnumbered. they love any excuse to dress up. we could set up a meet at the Sportsman's in the afternoon on sat 10/29. i plan on hitting HLH party first then coming back to SL.
