Hey guys. I just attempted to book at the SL for the dates above, only to discover that they've got *nothing* for the nights of November 11-12. Sigh. I'll work it out; can't wait to return to SJ after a two-year absence. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends again and making new ones. Look for the dashingly handsome guy, speaking excellent Spanish and wielding a long white stick....

Yea....I knew it. The man who stated that he won't be going back for a long time. I should have wagered you. If you need a seeing eye amigo I can be had for the right price. Don't forget the last time I helped you across the street. Then again you always managed without my sorry old ass. And please.....take things in moderation you wild man.

Have a good trip and be safe.

Circus!

You *did* wager. A steak dinner. Since it took me over two years to even plan a return trip, I think you owe me that steak! :D

I'll give you a shout either today or tomorrow. I want to see your smiling face in C.R. Maybe you can teach me how to play blackjack? From what I'm reading about the Sportsmen's, it might have gotten too busy to be my cup of tea. I know that sounds strange, but I did like it as a smaller, more intimate venue. I guess I'll have to just dive in and see how well I like it.

I'm still waiting to hear back from BKTuna regarding spending Friday and Saturday nights at HLH.

I'm kind of pissed off. My last trip, I paid with 35K F.F. miles on Delta. This trip, the same ticket cost me 60K, and I don't quite understand why. It drains my balance to nearly nada. Oh well, on the bright side, my cash up front costs for the ticket are $74 bucks round trip, not bad.

Nearly two months until I leave for C.R. and I'm already getting jazzed. Gawd, you'd think after 8 trips and nearly 200 days total in C.R. that I wouldn't be so excited about this. I'm like a k*d on Christmas Eve, waiting for Santa.

You overpaid (by at least $250) because you booked too early. These days, it's best to book between 30-60 days before departure. Five to ten years ago, booking early got you a very good fare, but that was when oil prices were low and nonvolatile. These days airlines err on the side of caution and jack up fares more than 3 months out because of the unpredictability of oil prices. Lets say an airline sells a bunch of tickets for a bottom low price 5-6 months out and then oil prices rise for the next 5 months, they can take a blood bath on those flights. As it gets closer to the travel date, price adjust to the correct level.

To me, the new Delta 3-tier F.F. system is almost a "bait-and-switch.:" I use my Amex Delta Sky Miles card, attempting to reach a point level sufficient to purchase a given ticket, only to discover that I either have too few points to buy the ticket class I want, or have to pay more for a lesser class.

In my case, I was deliberately hanging onto miles and not redeeming them, just because I thought I'd like to fly First Class this trip. Imagine my surprise when the agent on the phone told me that no, I was going to redeem most of my miles just to get a coach ticket.

I may well cancel my Amex card after this. I know it was my responsibility to know the terms and conditions, but c'mon! Two years ago, I started saving for a first class ticket; I reached the published level for that ticket and then found out it was barely enough to by a coach seat? Not cool Delta, not cool at all. :(

But...

I won't let that spoil my upcoming trip. I'm very pumped about coming back after two years' absence. I'll be playing this time using a different strategy. I'll be sure to write a TR all 'bout it.

Cheers,

P.

Sure, my friend. Be there two weeks before I get there. See if I care.

I arrive on the 26th. I have the same problem with rooms at the SL. But I'm on their waiting list.
Decided to try a penthouse at La Amistad for one night and then SL and then back to La Amistadt.

Patriot,

You'll really like the penthouse at La Amistad. I really like Amistad, Castillo and SL, the three hotels at which I've spent the most time in C.R. I wish that I could stay longer, as I wouldn't mind a return to La Amistad....train and all. Just like the "ambiente," you know?

Well, I'm starting to "ramp up" fpor the trip. I'm still trying to convince Circus to meet me in SJ, but as of yesterday he's doubtful for the trip. :( Still, I'm hoping to reacquaint myself with some old friends living in C.R. and of course, meet new ones. I couldn't travel two weeks later than my planned trip because of work responsibilities and family obligations (Thanksgiving).

Patriot, you still got my number? Call sometime; I'd love to catch up.

Paul/El Ciego

So... who else will be in town Nov. 8-17? I know *some* of my friends *must* be coming down, as it was difficult to get a room at the SL.

Once again, I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. If we don't yet know each other, just look for the blind dude with light brown/blonde hair in a business cut, probably with a freshly-f**ked grin on my face.... If no grin, just look for the white stick...no, not that one, perverts...you'd need a magnifying glass to see that one.... To quote Cujo's: "That was the smallest red condom I've ever seen in my life....looked like an angry zit..."

Fukkin' PR's.....

Will be coming in with a wing starting on the 6th through the 10th.....then onto Tamarindo 10th through the 14th......back to San Jose 14th and leaving on the 16th. Fourth trip for me.....Wing will be in shock and awe as its his first trip. If you see a guy with a Steeler hat on and a pu*sy eating grin from ear to ear, say hi Imperials will be flowing.

Ba912, looking forward to meeting you and your wing at the SL. :)

Steeler Jay, if I see *anyone* in a Steelers hat, I will gladly let him buy me a beer. Otherwise, if he sees me first, the beer is on me. That's the deal.

(Ciego means "blind" in Spanish). :D
