Opportunity popped up quickly in San Jose so it wasn't a thought out move.

Well, my patience paid off. Finally saw an ad on craigslist this weekend. It is a place in Barrio Amon. It is a huge room shared in a house. The room includes a big tv, cable, high speed internet, a walk in closet the size of a small room, a massive bathroom with a tub and a personal refrigerator within the room. There is also a fully equipped kitchen and some nice common area. A very good spot from working at home and doing my writing. The others are European and older. They are nice but serious people. Not a spot for me to bring guests, but that gives me an excuse. Don't really want whores in the home. Right around the corner from the sportsmens so I will be close to watching football. In the end, staying in the roach hotel was worth it. On top of it all, the rent is $360, including everything. Things have a way of working out.
