There is a decent gym called the Europeon Multi Spa that Boyd turned me onto a year ago that I always go to a few blocks from the Mercado (where you get that great coffee in bulk) off the the Calle Descuentos Tiendas. It costs 7 mil a day.

Ouch. 7 mil per day is costly. Seems like all gyms in CR are pretty expensive. When I'm in town I go to the Golds Gym thats located behind the Radisson. I think its $9 per visit.

Must have missed it but where are they located?
Also on their opening page on the right bottom, is noticia prueba cipreses which if clicked on brings you to a Latin phrase that's a standard quote to be a placeholder for future notices. Here's more on that (appropriate for a gym):
http://www.lipsum.com/

Here's more on Gold's Gym:
http://www.goldsgym.com/international-gyms/CR << note the old-style 7-digit phone #
http://www.goldsgymcr.com/ << same venue, Spanish site
Here's a list from the TicoTimes Directory including Multispa:

If you are to truly take fitness to the next level, read about this outfit in Utah (although parts may be available online):

http://www.gymjones.com

Pay no attention to the provenance of the above article--this is neither stylish nor fashionable.

If your fat ass can't walk up either one of those hills then you probably aren't really interested in going to the gym any damn ways

But seriously, it on the same block as Harry's Poas Bar and across the street from Hotel Santo Tomas. I think it's called Pangea or something like that. No windows or signs so you wouldn't know it was there.

Actually, about that hill going up from HLH towards the SL is pretty steep. I thought about not even fooling with the gym and do my cardio there. I usually hit the tread mill and crank up the elevation, so thought why not just fast walk up, go back down and repeat for a half hour to 45 minutes... Don't know if I wanna be known as the crazy gringo that goes around in circles in the neighborhood though... :D

TW, I've done that walk up that hill back to the Amistad countless times, it is good exercise alright, I can power my way up with no problem. :D I don't think it's any steeper than other hills, but it does go on for several blocks.

That fitness gym that's "up the hill" from HLH is reached by taking a left out of HLH's door, going one block to Ave 7, then turn left, it's located between Calle 3b and 5. Look through a window and you'll see exercise equipment.
