Walked by there this afternoon. Saw a "se alquila" sign (for rent) on the door. They lasted longer than I expected.

Ah... all that remodeling for naught. Such is life. Maybe somebody with a clue will open it as a bar? Probably too much to ask for.

Maybe some individuals from the Tampa area will take control of the place, make major changes, and run the place like it should be run :?:

A la Mons Venus perhaps? :)

I've posted this before; another gringo genius learns that to make a million in Costa Rica, you have to start with 2 million - the reason he was a dummy was w/in the 1st week his "concept" for the place was not working - bartenders dancing on the bar??? How '80's

Just b/c you can run, say, a construction business does not mean you know shit about running a bar - regardless of how much you like to drink  (Ask the former owner, Richard - he loved to drink and was his own best customer, yet he went out too).

The shame of it is the location is great, and may have even been some competition to the DelRey

PS The pizza place upstairs was not that good either (wow - what a surprise - tough finding good food in CR   :P  )

The exterior of the establishment is so gaudy and tawdry it was an embarrassment to walk in front of the place let alone go inside.

I always thought it was good when it was the NYB ....The new owner should of left it the was it was ,,,,,made some moves like HLH ....think about that place with BKTUNA ....it would have become a winner , not only could BK of had the CRT crowd but he could of pulled the clueless fishing groups that stay in the DR. Also the way Bill packs the sportmens with the tico's that follow the fights (on sat) ......GringoTim and Buzzfla I know you both love the place and so do I , but my 2 cents ,,,,thats all the place needed. Any bar or resturant that gets run from a bar chair .....will and should fail ......damm I miss those girls ....some of best finds were out of that place ( most were 5 and 6's with a few 7's,,,,even an 8 now and then) but you could count on BBCIM and anywhere from 10,000c to 20,000 and girls that would Phuck back

I agree, it is a definite shame that the NYB is no longer. It was one of my favorite places to sit and have a drink. The girls wer "b" team (or maybe "C") but they were friendly and fun. I also loved the food.

Hopefully someone with a clue will take over the lease and make a go of it.

Until then for hard core drinking and carousing it will be either Harry's bar or Joe B's
