the q is will they wait for you if you are delayed, no, good 12 dollar rate but everything has to click. i think they are german or they think they are. 3 day advance purchase. no way will they take you to a private home, just cab it.

If you are referring to Interbus I have found they will adjust to changes in the airline arrival times. Not sure that technically is "wait for you" but what is important is that they will be there if your flight is delayed.

You can not book to to a private home but if there is a hotel reasonably close to your home you can book to that hotel and then offer the driver a propina to take to your casa. I have booked the trip to the Barcelo Rincon del Valle and when we got close to the hotel offered him a 1000 colones to take me to my apartment, which is about 3 or 4 minutes from the hotel instead of the hotel. Total cost $14.00 instead of $26.00 that the airport cab wants. If the driver will not do it you get out at the hotel and grab a cab which in my case is about 650 colones to my casa.

Al...I was told by the HOTEL that only use the Orage CAB and no one should be asking for your passport number. I recommend that you take the Hotel advise that risking your self by taking a CAB which are not recommended by the Hotel. The cost is $25 - $28.

Have no idea why any hotel would give a guest that advice. Interbus is half the cost, have the necessary license to operate, are insured and have been used by many many CRT members without a problem.

Any taxi driver who asks for your passport number is most likely a portadore. They are taxis whose are suppose to have a contract to pick you up at a specific place and take you to a specific destination. They are not legally allowed to solicit fares on the street. There is a long running battle between them and the red cab drivers and the government seems to vacillate on how to solve the problem. I, personally would not use them from the airport to a hotel.

Or, you can get me to pick you up at SJO for $30 (one person in my Hyundai) or $40 for more than one person (in the Toyota Landcruiser) and not worry about if I will be there or not. I am always there on time and waiting for you no matter if your flight is delayed or early, I speak English, know where all the hotels are and can find a private residence if you wish. Plus you get around 45 minutes to ask all the questions you want about Costa Rica and/or mongering...

Also have a new service...for $50 (Hyundai) or $60 (Landcruiser) I pick you up at the airport then hang around for up to 4 hours showing you where things are (KL, HLH, DR, Relax etc..), take you for your B-12 shot at a pharmacy, answering questions, being a wing-man or whatever else I can do to introduce you to Costa Rica the RIGHT way...
