I've never stayed there, but it is close to an excellent Spanish restaurant I visited some years ago, if I have the location right. I used to stay on the other side of the park.

I have stayed there my past 3 trips. I like it very much. It is very quiet and has a nice staff that is very helpful. They have a free breakfast, in room safes, AC, TV, washer and dryer available for you to use or you can have one of the maids do it for you for a reasonable charge. My last time I stayed in a studio appt with a fridge and stove with a small balcony. If you go to their website, they have some time of the year that the rates are cheaper than others, but the high rates are not really very high.

They also have a pool there. The only thing that I didn't really like is that there is not a resturant on the property. The breakfast is the only meal available there. There are a lot of resturants within walking distance from the hotel, and I walked the area at night and did not feel in danger at all. It is also within walking distance to Oasis and the other MPs of that area

A cab ride to the gulch costs between 500 and 800 colones depending on traffic, but I feel it is well worth it just to be in a nice quiet neighborhood. The guy at the front desk can call you a cab, or you can walk to the corner and flag one down pretty easily durring the day.

Feel free to ask me any other questions you have that I might be able to answer.
