Despite reading the numerous FAQs, I wasn't sure which sub-forum would be suitable to post this question, so I hope I haven't committed a transgression of netiquette. Sysops, feel free to move this topic where it may best be suited and to castigate me for the error. I promise to fall in line.

Three friends and I have been hashing over a trip to the southern hemisphere for some time now. Some of us, including myself, are frequent travellers to parts east, notably Thailand and China, and have sampled the local delights many, many times. Additionally, I've been to Rio twice as well. However, there's been talk of an organized expedition to either San Jose, Costa Rica; or Medellin or Cartagena, in Colombia.

I have argued for SJO since it seems better suited as an introduction of sorts on mongering in Latin America. The well-established expat presence and relative proximity of mongering opportunities to each other bode well for a group of non-Spanish speakers, none of whom have been to CR before.

One particular friend however, has been heavily flogging the idea of visting Colombia. He's very keen on the fair-skinned pallor of colombianas and the prospect of cocaine-fueled mayhem. As a disciple of the movie Scarface, his dream is to recreate the scene where Tony Montana (Pacino) sits slumped over a huge parcel of coke looking a bit like a dazed rodeo clown. He also cites the supposedly lower cost of P4P in Colombia, though I have yet to successfully substantiate that claim (please chime in).

Could you please help solve our dilemma with any insights your collective experiences have yielded? For myself, I would appreciate knowing which of the two mongering destinations is safer in general.

As for us, we are all at least second gen Americans in our forties -- white, black, asian, and desi. My African-American friend is sensitive to any possible racial prejudices that might exist in either place. I am by no means a coke fiend, though some of my associates have been known to get a little tweaked from time to time. We differ as well in our mongering styles. I prefer visiting MPs and an early bedtime, usually solo. One of my buddies careens through daily life at ramming speed, soaking up glitz, glamour, and girls wherever they are to be had. If we do go through with this trip, our plan is to wend our separate ways during the daytime, rendezvous around happy hour, and go out together at night.

Thanks in advance for any input. For all the would-be touts who would encourage us to acquire VIP membership, I will only say that we are still very much in the initial planning stages. Speaking for myself, if we do go to CR, I would be only too happy to contribute to the board given all the advantages and discounts VIP membership affords.

Know its your 1st post and all - but also know there is a big prohibition about discussing illegal activities on the board - and drugs are at the top of the list

(Just MHO - your friend -above - sounds like an asshole - and some of your other friends need to grow up re the use of coke).

Stay in San Jose....

I've been dying to go to Colombia for years. The quality of Ticas against Colombianas doesn't even compare. As I learn more and more from friends who have gone, the Colombianas are much better at the source or closer to the source. I know some don't like them, but I do. Some prefer gunt toting Ticas because of "performance". Also, Panama City is said to be filled with lots of hot ones too... Might wanna be more careful with Colombia if new to travel in Latin America and don't speak the language. Just my two cents worth..

For a first timer in LA, I would STRONGLY suggest you go to San Jose.

1. I assume none of you speak Spanish well. Spanish is not needed in SJ (You can get by without in Colo, but then you almost have to stay at the Mansion properties and your costs go way up). Once you learn some Spanish and learn the game, go south.
2. Finding pu*sy in SJ is easy. Everything is pretty much within walking distance or a short cab ride at night. Not so in MDE. It's more spread out. To find indy's, you have to know somebody who knows something or stay at the Mansion. In CR, just walk into HDR, KL, lor SL and there are plenty for the choosing.
3. True, most Colombianas in CR are hardened pros, but there are good ones to be found. Also, Ticas, Nicas, Panamanians, Venezuelanas, and Honduranas.

Not even going to answer a poll from someone whose idea of fun is shoving illegal poison up there nose so they can feel swell for 5 minutes while supporting the misery caused by the illegal drug industry. Not only is it illegal, immoral and damaging to society in general, but it makes you more of a sheety person than you no doubt already are. Hope you and your buddy go to Colombia and end up in a Colombian jail. If you had a "Go phuck yourself" option I would choose that one . Oh, yeah, and have a nice day.

I have co-workers that could choose to live anywhere down south.

Some have chosen LIMA none have chosen San Jose.

All of those that live in LIMA have also been to San Jose.

Thats right 0 Zero chose San Jose.

I will return to San Jose.

Because I have some good friends that live there!

Well, well, despite my intentions, I seemed to have stepped on a few toes anyway. I apologize. Thanks Scuba1 and Isra123 for the correction which I will observe from this point. FWIW, I have NEVER done coke in my life even though it's been offered to me umpteen times. You can choose to believe that statement or NOT, I don't care. Speaking for myself, I can get along just fine without any chemical alteration on my vacation.

Having said that, I hope that the discussion can move forward. After all, I'm only really interested in deciding whether to go to CR or Col. Please reconsider my initial post without any reference to drugs; where do you think my mates and I should go, and why?

As I've been reading over the board the last few days, I've been collecting more data points: Colombia seems to be more dangerous in terms of personal safety. Orange brought up the more prevalent acceptance of English and the relative proximity of mongering opportunities to each other in CR -- both good points. To be honest though, there are still some issues I still haven't answered to my satisfaction in my reading.

(i) Colombianas seem to be amazingly HOT. I mean DAMN, they're HOT. I don't know any personally, but if mongering pix are any valid indication, MDE might well be considered the Prague of Latin America in my albeit, cursory research. Of course, I've never been to either place, so I have no basis to judge whether paises are indeed better-looking than ticas, so I hope someone will fill in the blanks. Please feel free to offer any other qualitative distinctions between the two groups of women, including the possibilities for a GFE or PSE, and how hardened they are.

(ii) As I mentioned before, we will be a racially diverse group. Although attitudes towards caucasians have been well-documented, I have found no evidence of discrimination towards blacks, asians, or desis in my reading on either country, which is in itself a good thing. My optimism is tempered however, by the many instances of overt racism I have witnessed in my other mongering-related travels. Given the choice, I would hope to spare my associates any unpleasantness on what ought to be a fun trip.



I'll look into Peru for a future trip but for right now, I don't wish to muddy the waters between my friends and myself in deciding where to go for THIS trip.

IMHO, the Ticas have more Babi*s than the rest, which gives a fair amount of them a pooch. Another compromise for Colombianas would be to go to Panama City, which is probly not as hard core as Colombia, but seems to have tons of smoking hot Colombianas. Although I generalize, I have weeded through the riff raff and had some good Tica experiences. Bottom line, you are gonna have a blast where ever you go out of your choices.

I have a friend in Panama right now. He visits 4 to 5 times a year and said this is his worst time ever. Immigration is really hassling the chicas, especially the Colombianas.
