Not that I care but mainly curious since I used to stay there before I discovered the NUMBER ONE hotel in SJ...Sportsmen's Lodge.....but are they still open for business?

From what i heard, the Amon plaza was in serious debt...they finally sold the hotel few months ago to American buyers/investors, but the tico owner decided he wants to screw over the new buyer by raising the price of the hotel and keeping the $1mm deposit money. I'm not sure of the exact details but got the jist of it-- The tico is trying to screw the americans over. I'm guessing its in some sort of litigation process?

These Americans are dumber than I am if this is true, woukldn't any normal thinker deposit it in some sort of trust account that the Tico couldn't access by himself?

Or if some escrow thing wasn't possible, walk away from the deal.

I drove by there last Saturday nite with my bartender amiga and she said that it was to open in about 5 months. I asked if that was tico time and all I got was one of those looks. She also said some of the girls that use to tend bar downtown would be working there.
