Can anyone recommend a good bottle or two of Costa Rican rum I can bring back? Dark only please.

Thanks.

Ron Zacapa - 23yr...I have purchased this rum as Christmas gifts for many friends and all who are rum drinkers have commented it's very good. Make sure you buy it at the Duty Free in the airport. You can pack it in your checked luggage if purchased during your stay in San Jose but the Duty Free Shop at the airport has the best price.

Thanks. I'll look out for those rums when at the bar and see which ones I like best.

Coming from Canada there are no Costa Rican (or Nicaraguan or Guatemalan) available in the stores. Only Caribbean rums.

Ron Zapaca rocks. I have a bottle of the 23 year old here at the house. I want to pick up a bottle of the 25 year old XO as soon as I can find it.

Dunn Inn has Zacapa, well at least they did back when Boyd was there as he is the one who suggested it to me. I picked-up two bottles of the 23year blend at the duty free in the airport and checked prices later at ABC liquor here in Florida and for the same bottle it was about $15 less per bottle.

I noticed that the Dunn Inn had Zacapa '23' when I was there last week. Also, the duty-free stores at the airport had Zacapa 'XO' for $90.

Buzzfla and myself discovered a great bar in Guadalupe last week called 'Mi Taberna'. They had most of the great rums available, including Zacapa '23' and 'XO', Flor de Cana '18' and '21', etc. It's a great bar...'open air', with two or three different sections. They had many flat screen TVs playing movies, music videos, etc. It's located on a corner in Guadalupe, headed towards Moravia.

Here's more on Brother GringoTim's great find (I hope this the right one): http://www.ticoparty.com/Bares-Costa-Ri ... rna-2-Bar/
They also advertise more than 100 different Tequilas--a "sweet spot" place indeed.

That's the right establishment, but I think that's a bad link. I get a 'server error' when attempting to link to the site.

Brother GT--No explanation for the problem--mine via Comcast worked fine. Maybe just try TicoParty then dive deeper. Anyway it looks like a fun place however we find it.
