Contemplating coming to the city this weekend to get some business done. Is it raining like crazy? Lots of clouds and rain at the beach. I don't want to get up there and have to take taxis everywhere due to the weather.

Very cool and cloudy this week. High 70. Expect taxi filling rain.

Thanks Pac55, I kind of thought so. I believe there is a low pressure system somewhere out there and think it is causing rain all over the country. Just thought I'd check.

The weekend is expected to be a wet one, thanks to a low pressure system parked over the country. And a small boat warning is out for both coasts.

The rain and high seas are expected to continue through Sunday, said the Instituto MeteorolÃ³gico Nacional.

The weather service said Thursday that land on both coasts is likely to be flooded by the high seas and that boat owners probably should consider moving their vessels into protected harbors. Both Puntarenas Centro and LimÃ³n Centro usually see some flooding during high seas.

The weather institute predicted the highest seas in the South Pacific but said that small craft less than 21 feet should remained tied up all over the Pacific. The institute also predicted high winds of up to 40 kph or about 25 mph.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said there was a low probability that the weather system would develop into anything stronger in the next two days.

The weather institute here is predicting heavy rains and thunderstorms in nearly the entire country in the afternoons. The Caribbean coast might only see moderate rains.

Some rivers already are rising, due to Thursday's rain, the weather institute said. Consequently there is a danger of flooding inland and landslides.

It's rainy season right now. Torrential rains five days every week on average. If you don't want to take taxis everywhere, don't come till rainy season is over, or buy an umbrella.

This is due to a low-pressue system parked over the area, not the normal rainy season. Typically at this time of year in the central valley there are only afternoon rains. Many of my trips were in July and the weather usually wasn't too bad and frequently quite nice, was able to do a lot of day-tours. October and November however, that's the heart of the rainy season.

Two weeks is a long time for a low pressure system to sit still, but I'll take your word for it. Can you recommend any sites for weather in CR? I've found a few but they offer very basic information.

Good lord, the weather is worse in October and November than it is now? Or did I read your post wrong?

Also, the system that is giving - or supposted to bring - all the rain to CR will likely NOT last for 2 weeks; its a system off the Atlantic/Caribean coast of Central America, forecasted to bring heavy rain to parts (and yes, CR was mentioned) of Central America - but not for 2 weeks.

of living in Miami is EVERY rain shower between June and November, regardless of its path and location is breathlessly reported by the local media - thats how I even have a clue about this system, which has zero effect on S. FL.

What's happening now is indeed what's typical for October and November, provided there aren't other factors like an El NiÃ±o or La NiÃ±a in effect. July and August normally have sunny mornings and mid-days with rain coming in the afternoon, clearing during the night, basically mostly nice. Of course, weather systems elsewhere in the area can change this, as is happening now.
