Is it possible to get a pair of boots made in 1 or 2 days? We are coming into san jose on either a fri. or sat. and flying out on sun. I know that is a short time frame but does anyone know a good leather shop where I could possibly get these made?

I have had several pair made and that is too short a turn-around. It takes a week+.

Why would you want 'custom boots' made in CR anyhow? I'm sure you can get much better stateside.

Why? How about 1- PRICE and 2- QUALITY!
Over the past few years, I've got 2 pairs of custom boots made in CR and my wingman has gotten 3 pairs. You can't beat the price, they're extremely comfortable (like wearing slippers) and they're quality made. I bought a pair of Tony Lama boots in the states more than 20 years ago, and back then - they cost over $200. In CR, you can get 3 pairs of boots (today) for that price! My dos colones....

My wingman and I use a guy in Guanacaste. But there is a small shop in the Mercado Central that can make boots for you. But as Pac55 said - it would be nearly impossible to have it done with a 2 day turnaround. You'd need at least 5-7 days lead time.

There are three or four shops west of town on a corner. Taxi driver Memo who hangs at Hotel Presidente can take you there pronto.

Across from the Tica Bus terminal (Avienda 3 , calle 24) you can find custom boot makers (as well as saddles, etc.).
I never priced them nor have I spoken to anyone that mentioned purchasing from them. There is also a custom shoe maker in the Mercado centro that may make boots.

The leather shops are one block north of the big Scotia Bank ...aka Mecedes
If you do not have time for custom work... they have soon nice boots on the rack
I got a nice pair, and had a problem with them... brought them back fixed gradis...
I wanted custom ones made... but my lack of spanish regarding Zapatos Bolts was limited
They got some nice skins in those places... bring a translator... or you might end up with what you did not want.... nice gator skin with pink tops and 9 inch stelettos
