the news cafe has been open for at least two weeks. I stopped there today and talked to a waiter. He said they are serving the buffet only, for breakfast ,$10 Starts at 6 am. Also serving lunch and dinner, they close at 10 pm. This is 7 days a week.

They will be opening a new Restaurant upstairs in November. The downstairs will close at that time. Don't take this date to the bank.

I have alway said that the beggars out front have ruined the setting, and fueled by throwing plata at them. Strictly my opinion only.

Did you see any mongers or chicas when you were there?

Indeed, it was closed all last week, when I was in CR.

Perhaps the place closes after the buffet breakfast,and re-opens for lunch.Seahawk usually has good eyesight.

Walked by there the other day and it's a construction zone. Most of the bar had been ripped out and I saw several step-ladders in the main restaurant area. I've no idea what that means in terms of what's going in there. Perhaps they're getting ready to open the rumored second floor restaurant? I didn't bother to stop and inquire because, at this point, I don't really care.

I walked by there many times and at different hours and it was never open. I Agree with ET it looked like they were taking it apart.

I walked by yesterday around noon,and the place was closed tight as a drum. I spoke to Harley who used to run the restaurant and currently runs the restaurant at the Balmoral. He said that the rumor is false that they closed because of the change in taxation of employees. He says that they just didn't do the business after he moved across the street. Of course that's HIS version.

last week the times I looked inside ...it looked like some work was being done ....but it was 1 or 2 tico's pushing a broom around ....

OK guys , The restaurant is now located inside the hotel across from the check in desk. If you are walking you see nothing go inside to find the restaurant. OK I ate breakfast Thursday inside the Presidente.

Hi, No mongers spotted . Cute waitress who said they are working on a restaurant upstairs. She said she thought a phone store or some sort of retail was going in at the old upfront location .
