I got an email from Kayak yesterday. I'm looking at a Sept. 8-13th flight to SJO. 5 nights. It's $486 on American. Seems like a dandy fare. I'm not 100% sure I want to book it yet as I'm not 100$ sure I want to go those dates. Anyone have any feel for if there will be any fares close to this during the next month or two ? Just curious if anyone had a feel. It doesn't have to be on American...but a one-stop from SFO to San Jose.

I would jump on that fare, I'm using miles on my next trip. If I would have purchased airfare it would have been around $913.00 and I'm not that far from SFO. Fuel costs could still keep dropping but $486.00 from SFO is very good IMHO.

If you have a Costco membership (or know someone who does) you might be able to save a little more. Some of their warehouses have started carrying $300 American Airlines gift cards for $269.

Ah, thanks for the advice. I just booked it! Not a Costco Member and maybe take to long to fiddle around to do that ....$486 from SFO to Dallas..one hour 15 minute layover in Dallas..then arriving San Jose at 7:35 P.M. Sept 8...just in time for the evening festivities....returning 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13th..have 3 hour 50 minute layover in Miami on the way back, then land at SFO a decent 7:30 p.m. .... last time out of SJO in Denver I got sent to secondary..lol..so probably happen again and that should give me plenty of time in Miami to clear secondary, etc...

I can substitute a Monday for the Thursday I'll be departing (I get every other Monday off from work) and my work has a "holiday" the next day (Friday), then it's the weekend..then I'm off that Monday (Sept 13th)..as I get every other Monday off...longer story short, I only have to use one day of vacation for 5 nights in San Jose..not sure where I will stay yet..

Anyone down there then and wanna party some with me, let me know..
