Glad as we are to help a paid-membership Brother, Brother Smc81 presents something of a puzzle. Ecotourism is a great and good thing http://www.haciendabaru.com/ but scarcely needs our help to pursue. So what is he asking of us? I'm not playing stupid, just truly confused. To the one question he asked--Would it be wise to bring la dama to the SL?--an emphatic NO! And not necessarily for the obvious reason--that she''ll be horrified and run screaming out of the joint (sorry, Bill)--just the opposite. Consider: There are more than a few women "on the game" that don't want ANY civilian, especially another woman knowing their business. If la dama were to be, say, a cultural anthropologist conducting research in this field--I'd say a severely-hedged maybe. Look, Brother, really--if you have any Latin dancing skills, spend the same amount of time at Casa Zeller--it'll be of greater benefit, I think. Here's their Website: http://www.casazeller.com
Need other party ideas? Coming right up: http://www.ticoparty.com

Well, I wasn't trying to bring drama and surely wouldn't; I was just curious about my original question. I only mentioned the ecotourism in passing just as something I saw interesting. I don't have any Latin dancing skills I'm a white guy with two left feet!

Take her to Bar Rio in San Pedro, if by chance she is a buena then she will judge you by your choice of the sportsmen. However, you might be able to snow her by a great place to play pool, good food, and your first time in the country.

As it happens, that's a venue listed in TicoParty.com. Here's the particulars: http://www.ticoparty.com/Bares-Costa-Ri ... San-Pedro/

Well, hell, Brother--we can help you there as well. Here's a dancing school with many locations in the SJO area:
http://www.merecumbe.net/index.php?opti ... &Itemid=29
And if you should in the future take Spanish lessons in CR, many of the schools offer dancing classes. Here's one that's gotten favorable mentions: http://www.learn-spanish.com/ If this one doesn't suit, here's a listing of others: http://www.123teachme.com/language_schools/

NOTE: I have not used any of these--mentioned for info and a place to start only.

Ok, I would normally not even say anything about this post because everyone needs to learn a little about CR on their own. Most guys try to tell you to do it the way they do or they tell you you are doing it the wrong way. I personally feel that you gotta just do your thing. If you wanna bring ole girl into the lodge, ask her first if she has ever been there. I mean hell, she did say she lives 5 minutes from the place. I will say that most "regular" women would feel uncomfy there with all the working girls and scumbag guys walking around(I do include myself in that list). If she is not uncomfortable when she walks in she has probably been there before which is not a good sign if you are looking for a girlfriend. Just remember, in the end you have to do you. You can't be anyone else, because I guarantee that your ride will be completely different. So enjoy, and bang it up the first time.

I am ALWAYS around, so if you wanna chat a little, I am easy to find.

Oh, by the way, the SL is well known for being a monger safe zone......lol

I might run into this problem myself....I love watching the UFC, but the only place I've found that shows them is the SL. And I loved bringing my girl with me in the states to go see them, so I'm probably going to ask my novia to go with me for the next big UFC in August.

Anyone who knows of any other spot that shows UFC in San Jose (I'm thinking that Chubbs might), that would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah Tim Out should have all the UFC events if you need to go somewhere that is not full of hoes. Most of the places can get the fights on cable, but the commentators are in Spanish. Channel is TDN. On Amnet I think it is channel 26.

Ask your novia?.......lol You are already breaking the first rule!!!!

Keep ya head up.....

My novia is NOT a whore, and I met her over two years ago. I did not ask her out until last week; I've had plenty of time and observations to see what kind of woman she is. She has been a loyal friend to me and has never asked me for a single thing, though I have given her things sometimes, but never money.

I am taking it slow, and am not going to offer money, cohabitation, mingling of funds, marriage, or anything else until and unless I feel things over the long term are going terrific....and maybe even not then....only time will tell. Like I said about my drinking, I take full responsibility for my mistakes, and if I phuck up, I move on, learn and get over it.

Here's a site that offers 3 thumbnails and basic info on Time Out Tavern. Looks like a good place to take someone close...or even not so close:

But you would have to wake up and smell the coffee (very long, very famous thread on CRT)

Re the original question - for what the OP describes, its a casual meeting - meet somewhere else if you don't want to meet at Sportsmans (I hear the Hotel Del Rey is centrally located and has a nice bar - try there  :P  ) - seriously, plenty of places in SJ - wanna get out of the gulch entirely - try the Jazz Cafe, not too far from the University in San Pedro - cabs know the place - nice, great music, and not far - problem solved :)

PS In all likelihood, no one else is going to give a shit what someone else does, who someone else brings in, sits with, talks with, etc - no one will even know - the OP's question was about the reputation of the Sportsmans.

of course you drink vodka. would it make any sense to have you guarding the beer if you actually drank it? keep up the good undercover work. 8)
