Hey guys,

An amiga of mine had a birthday this month & I wanted to buy her a cake when I came down later this month. Can anyone recommend a pastelaria near the Gulch that will make a birthday cake & have it delivered to Hotel La Amistad? If you have contact info, that would be great too.

Thanks in advance,
El O

Spoon just down from Hotel Presidente (other side of the street) has excellent cakes & advertises delivery (at least at the other restaurants in town.....). Ask for Giovanni & tell him Dale y Grettel sent you.

Grab a cab to the M&N True Value in San Pedro. You can't miss the bakery (east side, second floor). They have very good cakes in a variety of sizes and will customize with any lettering you want while you wait (a minute or two). Taxi will be around c5000 round trip including the wait. They all know M&N True Value in San Pedro (north side of the road, 100 meters east of Mas x Menos).

Trigo Miel located on avenida 3, 25 meters north of the clock on avenida central. Have a good selection and they can inscribe whatever you want on the cake. I have seen a moto with their name on it parked outside but not sure if they deliver. If they do not it is only a 1000 colones or less back to the Amistad.

Brother ID's mention seems to have many locations. See this:

There is a trigo miel on the south side of Hospital La Calderon Guardia, just a few blocks from Amistad, fantastic cakes.

Delivering cakes on a moto in San Jose would have huge slapstick comedy potential :D :D :D

The cafe/restaurant at the Perimercados across the street from the Trigo y Miel downtown SJ sells Spoon cakes as well. Plus it's a great hangout place in the morning with great coffee made by a baristo and great pastries. If hangout time runs into lunch, they have daily lunch specials and great breakfasts a low cost. A pensionado hangout indeed.

Thanks ID & Jazzbo...got a great cake serving 10 people for 8000 colones, 700 to deliver it to Amistad. The most shocking part is that I requested it be there at 2 pm & it was right on time (delivered by moto).
