Looking to travel to SJO June 24-29. Seems like more air fares are between 600-700 from LAX (red eye).. do you guys think booking last minute prices will go down.. not sure if this is high or low season for CR.. Thanks for any advice.. TR

It's the low (rainy) season in costa rica. Someone wrote that Kayak has a thing on their website that shows you what each flight normally sells for, thereby giving you a gauge of when to buy.

make the flight a lot and unless you are looking to go one or two stops expect the 600+ range right now. i don't think with the price of oil we will see lower fares anytime soon.
paid 624 for taca 605/604 the end of june.

as an airline employee usually the closer you buy ( actually pay for it) your ticket to your flight date the more it will cost.
best prices are from 21 days and more from date of travel.

Dude, I've been looking anywhere from 3, 6 to 9 months out and price is the same, and I have checked with diferent airlines; same results.

Another question.. I'm seeing a lot of the return flights have a stop over in either SAL or GUA... some with only 50 minutes between flights.. anybody have experience with that short of time between flights (changing planes) and i think there will be some kind of secondary customs to get through too.. 50-65 minutes seems like it will be cutting it very close! What do you guys think. Thanks!

Beware connecting through GUA. You have to pass back through security even if in transit, so if you have any liquid in your carry-on, like duty free booze from SJO, they will take it. I think it is a racket. I hate connecting through GUA.

Thanks for the info.. I'm more concerned with the time factor.. 1 hr just doesnt seem like enough time to get off the plane, pass back through security and re board the next plane.. especially if it's a different carrier (even though i imagine taca and lacsa are close to the same terminal).

taca and lacsa are the same entity and you check in the same place.

if you’re a “thru passenger” connecting with the same carrier - then YOU”RE the AIRLINES responsibility. which means if the flights late, and there is a missed connection/ cancellation then the "condition of carriage” takes effect insuring accommodation...
