Just wanted to write SL Gato and his van crew did something cool for me yesterday. Took one of the SL vans back to Hotel M and my cell phone fell from my pocket to the van floor. Realizing I didn't have my phone, I figured out I might have left in the van -- but I didn't remember the driver's name.

So I called SL, got Gato, told him what happened. He had the van drivers search all vans and my phone was found and returned in person by Gato, with apologies no less. Would not accept a gratuity for the driver (whom by the way charged me standard red taxi fare for the ride to M).

I guess they're not that horrible after all. :D

Good to hear and good on you for posting a positive experience. I think sometimes the tendency is only to say something if something negative happened..

I have used Gato on several trips, specifically to Quepos on Feb 14th of this year, a 2 hour+ drive, from the SL for a fishing trip. I have had nothing but good experiences with him as a professional driver. We had a miscommunication on the 14th. Previously, I told him that we would NOT be finished before 1 pm the next day, as he stayed overnight in Quepos as we did. He understood me to say that we would be back at 1 o'clock. (btw, I speak fluent Spanish, so it wasn't a language barrier thing.) We didn't get back to the dock until 4:45 p.m., yet he waited for my CRT Canadien brother and me, drove us back to the SL around 8:30 p.m ruining his planned Valentine's Day dinner with his novia. Needless to say, he was in hot water with the SL and his novia, yet he did NOT desert us. Hope this sheds some light on his character and professionalism, at least with me.

I can't count the number of times myself and mi amigos have used Gato, from pickup - dropoff @ airport,
booze and grocery runs, tourist runs, nightclub runs and many more. He has always been honest and fair,
but damn sometimes the Elvis music gets to me.
Regards, 911 Driver

first day I met Gato he made a horrible first impression. Since then he has come through for me big time! He also returned one of my missing items from a late-night of clubbing with the bartenders, special "bro" prices for quick runs to Santana and Escazu, and one night he made 3 runs between San Jose and Jaco or us ensuring that ALL the chicas got there OK for the big BBQ / pool party - and ALL at a very "special" rate.
and a very big plus for us under-the-cover-lovers -->> he knows nothing, remembers nothin, and says nothing.....Gotta give him the EdB props too.

Pura Vida
