Stayed at the Copacabana in Jaco the last two nights and figured I'd write a quick review...
Most of the rooms are small, with the exception of the suites. The room was supposedly $85 minus 10% CRT discount but they charge your card in colones at a strange rate. What should have been about $185 after taxes ended up being $205

On the positive side, they are remodeling rooms every day. Had two guys working both days I was there to get more rooms up to par with new A/C units and televisions. They have even added a mirror to the ceiling in some rooms. In my room, air worked great, had hot water (but took a while to get going) and good shampoo and soap.
The bar area has a trickle of girls coming and going all day including a couple of hotties. Live band last night was very good. Wasn't real impressed with the service, although the manager I spoke with for a while said he is trying to rectify that. However, still had to ask them to come clean the room (at 4pm).
Location is very good with beach in front of the bar and Beetle Bar just a few blocks away. However, they are charging a chica fee of $25 or $20 with your CRT card.
Wireless internet is available ONLY IN THE LOBBY and despite assurances that security was around and patrolling the property, didn't feel real good having my computer in the lobby late at night. One pool on the property has a swim up bar but never saw anyone working the bar although yesterday afternoon, there were a couple of girls swimming/sunning. The other pool is totally nude and don't think anyone used it the entire time I was there...
I give the Copacabana high marks for ambiance and the good breakfast. However, for the size room, they are asking a heavy price not to mention the quote in dollars then charging a credit card in colones so adding another $20 to the final cost. Chica fee was a disappointment as was the overall service. For the price, I expected more...
