And dirty. They may change the sheets but they don't change the bedspreads and one can imagine the stuff on those. Noisy.

Everybody has made that mistake early on but take my advice and those other experienced memebers and find another option.

The Del Rey is a Tranquil Place, actually more of a cozy Bed and Breakfast accommodation, nestled into native bush on the peninsula . Relax in a peaceful, natural environment with access to a secluded beach.

No smoking on the property.
Tea & coffee making facility, TV, WiFi internet access are available in the room.

Activities

* Access a secluded beach via a footpath next to the property
* Go for a bush or beach walk
* Bird watching
* Star gazing
* Visit romantic, historic little hidaways
* Take a coach or boat trip to explore the Bay of Islands and the Far North
* Relax on the spacious deck

To continue in the fact or fiction premise. I'm going to call this one fiction. Several times over the years I've stayed at the Delray for 14 days or more. At least once on each of those trips my bedspread and drapery has gone missing during the day. Now I don't really know but I've always figured they take it down to the basement run it through the washer and dryer and return it to the room later in the day. I could be wrong about this they could just be taking it for a walk but I'm kind of thinking it's the laundry room in the basement.

No disrespect meant is an open forum and we're all entitled to contribute what we consider legitimate information.

I quit staying there 10 years ago so maybe they have improved on housekeeping and they're cleaning them every 14 days.

I agree that everyone should do their own thing, including staying at the HDR at least once (I did). The kicker for me is that fact that the chicas will treat you like a monger if you are at the HDR. Its their place of business...you're gunna get business phucked. It will be as quick as possible so she can get back to business...her next monger. And if you want to watch the game, talk with friends, relax, good luck.

I repeat the thing about no disrespect and this being an open forum. But the question about the girls treating you different because you're staying at the Delray is one I do not completely understood. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn, the president and the Hotel Del Ray. Do not recall a noticeable difference in the experience. Granted when I was staying at the Holiday Inn it was the late 1990s and I was using mostly escort services. On occasion I would bring a girl back from the Delray.

I can see the argument that the closeness is a distraction. But I have a very hard time comprehending how the mere fact that your 100 yards away at the Hotel President will turn her into your loving girlfriend who will stay with you forever. I do like to exaggerate.
I would never want to imply that I have the slightest idea of what's going on in these girls heads because I do not. I cannot help but think that when presented with a client who's willing to pay an equal amount of money who was staying at the Delray she would not consider it a more desirable thing. She does not have to leave the safety of the Delray with a complete stranger. She does not have to negotiate a return trip on her own.

As for her considering you just another Monger because of your hotel of choice well. Any North American showing up at the Delray is pretty much what he is and his hotel of choice is not going to change that. I would think the way you handle yourself and how you treat her well have more to do with her performance than the hotel the performance is taking place in.

Lee, thanks for your informative and thoughtful post in this thread. I have between 25-30 trips under my belt and usually stay at the Prez in a Spa room. (cost with VIP discount $99 per night + tax) Based on recent events I am looking for a change. I called the DelRey and they quoted me $110 per night from May 19-22. If you factor in 2 elevator rides per day plus taxes and breakfast the HDR seems a little pricey. It seems to me that you can get nicer rooms, with breakfast and no chica fees for about 1/2 the price. Not knocking the HDR but it seems like a bad deal for the $$$$.

FWIW: I called the SL and they are sold out that weekend.

The VIP discount (w/ CRT card) ended about a year and a half ago - those were some great rates (the standard room w/ the card was like $58/night)

But that ship has long sailed. I get the feeling its been a while since you last stayed there :)

No the Prez has there own VIP rate for guest who stay there 12 nights or more per year. They started this when they eliminated the CRT discount. My last stay was in November 2010. I even have a VIP rate for my next reservation later on this month.

I had a similar deal (although yours sounds better) It was $88 for the standard room during the week, $98 on the weekends. Slight discount over the rack rates. But a BIG increase over the previous $58/night with the former CRT discount. (and for what - redecorating, which all hotels should do from time to time....) I was there w/ a group in Jan.

But given their policy changes, you would be well advised to choose another hotel (IMHO). (and again, they will not be up front w/ you on the changes they have made if you call them). I'll never stay there again - WTF would I give $$ to a place that just "tolerates" me :roll:

When are you coming down - I'll be there May 18 - 24 - staying at the Morazon; the Prez is nicer, but zero hassles, and I prefer that part of town. If you will be in town then, PM me and I'll meet you for lunch or a drink (but not at the Prez :lol: )

That sounds like the Hotel Parador in Manuel Antonio :)
