Did anyone else catch the recent Frontline investigative report on the major airlines outsourcing maintenance? They now outsource most to companies around the world, some of which apparently do shoddy work with untrained labor. A company in Beijing cancelled allowing a visit at the last minute and ironically the one company they did report on (ST Aerospace) had a lawsuit filed against them just before the program aired. It can be watched online, google Frontline and episodes Flying Cheaper and Lawsuit: "Fume Events" Caused Toxic Air in Plane Cabins

"(20 minutes) In the second story of this magazine program, FRONTLINE asks: Do you know who's fixing your plane? With carriers today outsourcing major repair work, should we worry?"

At least so far they have not contracted for maintenance with a small Private Company located in a small town in North West Pakistan owed by some unnamed Saudi investors to save the really big bucks.

I'd watch out for the use of Chinese drywall in cabin refurbs.
