Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but think the moment he had a Ch*ld born in Costa Rica, he has the right to work. Just like all the Colombian girls they haul out of DR every now and then. They end up releasing them because they are married to a Tico, so have the right to work even though they do not have residency.

Neither parent is a Costa Rica citizen. I do not believe the birth of a Ch*ld gives immediate right to work. It might qualify you eventually but I would imagine their is some paperwork involved or as Srlim would phrase it some hoops to jump through. :P

got in this morning and i am not in the gulch. asked someone familiar and i will not repeat what i heard. this can and likely already has gotten out hand. seems safe to say its a little more complicated than just ousting the guy.
and maybe its just best left alone. thats what im going to do. not my business.

i for one used to stay at the clarion before Boyd even ran the poker there. One day i decided to check out the place across the street. I walked in and met Boyd. A great guy. lots of information and always there for a conversation. Im sure Boyd is very proud of the job hes done for the dunn Inn. Ive stayed there at least 4 times in the last 2 years and have brought in at least 20 room nights to that hotel. All of them came on my recommendation but stayed comming back there because of the way they were treated by Boyd and the hotel staff. last time i was there Boyd gave a great tour of the new areas and ideas of the resaurant and food. I can say from the bottom of my heart and anyone ive ever suggested the Dunnn Inn to. that Boyd was the Factor that really put there stay over the top. Although The hotel staff was always very nice and accomodating. we felt that when we needed someone to help withthings Tico boyd was there to help Translate and make it right. I for one would love to see how boyds hard work and vision has paid off and be able to compliment him on such a fine job. My next trip you can be sure that i will be contacting him just like i woudl contact Nixon atthe clarion. Ill talk to him myself to see how he feels about enjoying th efruits of his labor atthe dunn inn. THANKS BOYDE, for all yoru hard work and look foward to seeing you atthe Clarion for a drink. By the way while i stayed at the Dunn inn i always went back to the Clarion to see everyone in the casino. They really treate dyo ulike family as they took my money.lol

I will not continue my patronage of the Dunn Inn until all the facts are out!

I've worked in the corporate world, and the standard seems to be to take maximum advantage of every employee, get away with anything you can, and hope that they take it as long as they can till they are squeezed dry. Then they find another dweeb, rinse and repeat. I am sorry to hear what happened to Boyd.

Gentlemen,

Damage control here may call for a severance/consultant fee in the mid-five figures to the project manager for the expansion of "The Dunn Inn annex" and the rise in business during the period of construction. This is a value for both sides. This would allow Boyd & family the opportunity to relocate, get invoved in a new local project and fairly severe this relationship. Then both parties author a joint letter to the CRT forum stating that BKT has been treated fairly and that Boyd can comfortably recommend the "New Dunn INN" to like minded consumers.

Really good advise. The bottom line is the current management just posted that letter to try and mollify the former guests who patronized the place because they knew Boyd. Make it right with Boyd and perhaps we will come back. 8)

Big phucking deal, a free drink - what can that set them back, 200 or 300 colonies @ their cost.

I read the saga; both sides - and think the stupidest thing the hotel could have done was fire the guy, period - especially w/in days of the opening of the new section/casino. (And further, I think the reason given, that Boyd was a drug dealer, was just plain crazy - I'm not a fan of litigation, but in the USA he would have had grounds for a defamation and wrongful termination lawsuit).

I always wonder how people who are bright enough to have the money to embark on an expansion of the kind they did (or be able to convince someone to lend them the money, which is often harder  ) turn around and behave so stupidly.

Well, a few more similar decisions, and a few more groups of "guests" like the ones described in another active thread (so bad a member had to leave the DI - read it under Hotels section), and we can put the Dunn Inn with the NY Bar, the Nashville South, and other establishments who proved that the way to make a million in CR is start w/ 2 million!

I hate to disappoint all the critics of the Dunn Inn but they will do just fine with "normal, everyday tourists" and not miss CRT nor Boyd a bit
find another thread to run through the mill

I truly believe the Done Inn will not make it without CRT business. They have nothing to offer to other tourists. I strolled by in late March an the place was almost deserted. They made a poor business decision and it will be their demise. Just hope all the good employees get better paying jobs.

Not true--the owners made a calculated decision to excise eco-tourists to give greater play to Our Crowd. Not many of these other tourists are going to be found in the tavern or lounge, not for long at a time anyway, but I'd expect a look at the books of the DI will show a dramatic drop in room-nights rented. Also once the other tourists are driven away, they will stay away and it would take a long time and many positive assurances on TripAdvisor and other Boards to lure them back.

I walked in on Monday afternoon (two days ago) and it was deserted. And Karol no longer works there as of three weeks ago. If anyone knows where she ended up after the DI, I'd love to know.

I just returned from my cherry trip to the Gulch. From all I observed the whole situation is a damned shame. A buddy of mine stayed at the DI, Boyd did a hell of a job there because the place is gorgeous. Topdoggie and I met Boyd at HLH and he showed us around. I can see why he has a loyal base here. I stayed at the SL and met Bill as well. All I can say is good, friendly, personal management and showing that you genuinely want me to have a good time in your establishment and be satisfied with the value I'm getting trumps everything. The quality of the guy running the place and his concern for his guests' satisfaction is what really matters most to me. Boyd and Bill get it. So at least until the mgmt at the Dunn gets their reputation back, they're a last resort for me.

In case it needed to be added, my stay at the Sportsmens was excellent and my visits to HLH were awesome too and I'll be back to both places soon. A full TR is coming...
