All,

I tried to find more info but there is a ton of stuff to go through and was hoping to get a quick answer.

My buddy and I will be staying at the Dunn Inn in May and was wondering if that area is unsafe to walk around in during the day? What about at night?

People keep saying on the boards to not walk down the hill (or is it up) but I have no clue what that means. I know where HDR is and where Dunn Inn and I assume it is not wise to walk at night. What about from Dunn Inn to SL?

Thx

during the day ...safe to walk most everywhere .....once dark ...get in a cab....going up the hill from dunn inn to sportmens ....if your not in shape you will feel that trip up the hill .....leaving back to dunn inn ...easy ...the places you will travel during the day is mostly about a 8 block area and except for a street person or someone trying to sell you something ..you will be fine !! at night ...the odds go in the bad guys favor if your on foot ...just don't do it ...get in a $2 cab ride and enjoy your trip ....they don't give out hero badges when you pay your exit tax....

Perfect, exactly what I needed to know!

What is it like outside the Dunn Inn at night? Anyplace around there to walk to (within a block or two) for drinks and/or a late night drink? I thought I read something about trannies being outside the Dunn Inn that will try to rob you

Thx

Sorry, you have reached your allotment of retarded questions for a non-member. :D

Like Mike says, take a cab at nite..more than likely you will mostly be at the SL or HDR anyway...

The last person that tried to walk outside of the Dunn Inn at night died a tragic death.

Ok, sorry for the dumb questions, it has been over 10 years since I have been in SJ and I don't remember it being that bad at night. Of course, maybe I was just dumb walking around drinking with 3 of my friends in my late 20s!!!

Thx

Trannies hang around the corner from DI, where HLH is located. They will rape your ass. Unless you're into that, no walking anywhere after dark.

As everyone has stated it's okay to walk anywhere in the gulch area during the day but the freaks come out at night so unless you like laying in a ditch dead with a meth head butt phucking your corpse I would suggest a $2 taxi ride. If it's an issue spending the $2 you should rethink your trip! If it's because you want more exercise the girls will give you all the cardio you will need unless you are from Boston and a member of the minutemen...lol. No seriously don't be a dumb ass take a taxi! I've taken the taxi from the gulch area to the HDR many times and almost always at night you will see people of low character (bums, trannies, crack heads, punks, etc.) at different spots. Good luck!

taxi ride from dunn inn to hdr ..... $2
mind numbing pleasure for one one ...... $80 (not $100)
being butt phucked and robbed by a trannie on meth while walking around at night .... priceless!

Is this true? I hadn't heard about this! I've had to stand outside waiting on the door man at the condo i stay at before but never really thought too much about it until now.

I've walked many times from the SL to the gulch and back, and from the SL to the HLH/Dunn Inn area and back. Only during the daytime though and never encountered a problem.....yet. But if the sun is even close to the horizon, I will grab a cab as it is way to risky to walk around at night in San Jose.

That makes me think twice about making the LA to SL walk. Its just really tough to justify taking cab for all of a block.

LA to the SL walk at night is such a short distance in a residential neighborhood. I have done it many times and it seemed ok.
