I'd agree that the prices have risen a lot. When I first started going there about 5 years ago, prices were half of what they are now.

Seems to be very popular. The one in Sabana is ALWAYS packed. I'd guess that it may be the most popular restaurant in Costa Rica, by the amount of people served every day. It is still pretty cheap for what you get. The Arroz con pollo is very good and is like $5. Huge portion. I wouldn't say the place is 'great' however, its just cheap seafood that the average Tico can afford on a special occasion. Seems to really pack up on Fathers Day, Mothers Day etc...

Food wasn't bad for the price when I ate there a few years ago. BUT, living at the beach now, and having lived on the Gulf Coast for 10 years before moving here, it just don't measure up.

They have a few restaurants in the valley. A friend took a small group of visitors here a couple weeks ago to their store in Sabana (west side of the park), no problemos. The closure of their store for health violations on the north side of San Jose (was it Coronado, Tibas??) a while ago was all over the news. I'm curious, which store did someone get ill at? I'm still wary of going to the Sabana location.

It was in Morovia(sp?) maybe two-three years ago, La Princessa Marina, was serving tainted warter. I guess because of the amount of people getting sick and ticos at that, they knew the proper procedure for filing a complaint with proper ageny. It was close down for a while.

It really isn't all that good for the price. And the risk of getting sick makes it a non-starter for me.
