FYI just returned on Monday, I have eaten at La Princessa many, many times in the past. On Sunday night my wingman and I decided to end our trip to the rest. We both ordered ceviche, he had a steak and I had yellow rice with seafood. About 3am it started, blowing it out both ends, and I mean blowing it out, violent headach. A little after 10am wingman calls my room says hes' been up since about 3am also with the same symtoms. We both stagger up to the Drs office across from the Hospital Calderon,( staying at the Amistad). The Dr. knew right away after we told him, where we had ate, took us one by one in the back for an examanation. A shot ,some pills, and pedelyte. HE SAID HE TREATS ON A CONSISTENT BASIS, CASES OF FOOD POISONING from La Princessa.
I was severly dyhydrated but had a lot of personal business that was scheduled for this week. I dragged my ass to the airport and made the most miserable trip and day of my life back to the U.S. I've had night sweats for two nights, went to my own Dr. yesterday. My wingman was too sick to travel, and made back on Tuesday.
Just to let you guys know... AND A BIG THANKS TO MATT AT THE AMISTAD FOR A GREAT STAY and LOOKING AFTER MY WINGMAN.
If any of you doubt my post just ask Rodolfo or Matt.

I won't eat there anymore either.

I must be the luckiest person on earth. I have eaten there 25 times without any issues. Bu't I always eat breaded fish filet and mashed potatoes and about 2-3 ceviches. I should play the lottery.

I must be lucky too, I have been going at least once a month for two years and was just there on Tuesday.

The health department shut down one their loctations about 4 years ago. They had several hundred cases of salmonella.

Sorry for the duplicate post. But you guys followed the same path as me...Pharmacy across from the Hospital. The "doc" told me the same thing he told you guys. Treats people all the time that got sick at La Princessa. I love the joint but....it is a crap shoot.

A few years ago 5 of us went and 3 got the shits

I guess Ticos must have built up an immunity to whatever causes problems in gringos at La Princessa Marina. I live in walking distance of the one in la Sabana and every time I go by the place it is packed. If Ticos were getting sick at the rate being described in this thread I doubt they would keep coming back.

I do not eat there anymore, not because i ever got sick, but because I think they became overpriced for the quality and quantity of their food and the absolute lack of a relaxing atmosphere.

I gotta admit, I've only eaten there twice, but both times the food was very good, portions large, prices fair and never got sick.
