Crew members stopped two drunken Mexican pilots from leaving Costa Rica with an Aeromexico flight carrying 101 passengers to Mexico, a Costa Rican aviation official said on Monday.

“One of them, the co-pilot, tested positive for alcohol while the captain refused to do the test,” Alvaro Vargas, deputy director of Costa Rican Civil Aviation, said.

The Boeing 737-700 had been due to leave Costa Rica for Mexico City on Saturday, but was delayed 24 hours to wait for replacement pilots, Vargas said, adding Costa Rican officials were investigating the incident.

If I had to leave San Jose to go back to Mexico City I'd be drunk too, to ease the pain.

This mornings Inside Costa Rica had this article about 2 more Aeromexico pilots and one F/A suspected of FWI.

Two More Aeromexico Pilots Caught Drunk On The Job

Two more Aeromexico pilots were caught drunk on the job this week, this days after crew members stopped two other drunken pilots from taking off from Costa Rica's Juan Santamaria international airport in San José.
Aeromexico Pilots Stopped By Crew From Flying Drunk in Costa Rica

In Mexico City, security officials detected alcohol on the breath of the two pilots and a flight attendant when they arrived there from western Jalisco state Wednesday, according toMexico's Reforma.

When they were asked to explain themselves, the pilots "ran off and left their suitcases at the checkpoint," the newspaper reported.

In Costa Rica last week, two Aeormexico pilots were stopped from leaving a flight carrying 101 passengers when crew alerted airport security of the inebriated state of the pilots.

Aeromexico apologized and said the pilots "were not in a fit condition" to fly and had been dismissed, at least until the end of an investigation.

Aeromexico is part of the Skyteam alliance which includes Delta, Air France-KLM, Alitalia, Aeroflot, Korean Air and Vietnam Airlines.
