I will be landing at SJO via Delta mid week after 10. So it could be midnight before I drop my bags. Staying at a condo for business reasons near HLH, not at a VIP hotel.

Based on recent experience if you were landing LATE on a weeknight and staying near where would you go for a nightcap and maybe takeout? DR, SL or somewhere else?

Del Rey and the Key Largo are next to each other and should fit the bill.
SL closes the bar at midnight and the chicas are mostly gone by that time unless already hooked up with a SL guy.

I have arrived on that flight many times. Usually get in the door between 11 and 11:30 depending if I checked bags.

I'd have the taxi wait while I drop my bags at the condo then drop me off at the Del Rey, not wasting a minute. Do a lap through the Del Rey and Key Largo to find a chica and then straight back to the hotel to put the first night in the history books.

If you mess around, 11:00pm will suddenly be 3 am.
