Ditto the above, I have only positive experiences with the food and service. A good mix of well behaved gringos and ticos, no hassles and the owner bought us a beer. Jessica is a treasure. I respect everyone's opinion and I think that all informative and/or humourous posts are good as long as they are not malicious.

Going back to San Jose soon, and wondering if I can find a hamburger
with a patty built in-house, seems like everyone sold burgers with
factory made discs, last few visits. Is there a high end burger to be
had in San Jose anymore? Don't know, maybe the Del Mar might be
up to it, anywhere else?

I had Nachos at chubs well over a year ago. They had a big picture on the menu of nachos like they should be covered with cheese. What I got was chips covered with mayo and pink colored mayo. a mixture of mayo and Ketchup, no cheese. They were pricey and just shit. I haven't been back since. I won't go back and I tell everyone of my experience. The SL dose have the best burgers in SJ, They are not located in the gulch like someone stated. SL price C4000.

I would not recommend any beef from Costa Rica.... I have lived here for several years and have just given up on any Costa Rica beef. Living in Guanacaste makes it a little more difficult for a good burger. I go to either the club house restaurante, Caracol, at the Four Seasons Golf Course or the Dive Bar at Marina Papagayo for a GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! burger. Both places use imported black angus beef in their burger, plus that have good swiss cheese available as well.... Can't go too often for the burger as it ends up in the neighborhood of $25 for a burger, fries, and (and my other favorite part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) a Dr. Pepper.

This Texan for one appreciates the good burger but the ice cold Dr. Pepper puts it over the top for me.... can't find too much Dr. Pepper in Costa Rica, except for the 4,800 Colones 2 liters in Auto Mercado by my house.

At Sabana Sur there's a restaurant called BESOS, it has an outdoor bar at the side, they make great burgers, big juicy spicy patty with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and a slab of avocado, served with spicy potato wedges, for about 2,500 colones. It will fill you up, and if it doesn't, try the soup: clam chowder, potato, or tortilla soup. Is on the main road in Sabana Sur close to the Costa Rica Tennis Club.

I believe the first thing I do upon getting into the states is get a Dr Pepper. You know you're gringo when you do things like sometimes pay 2000 colones for a box of kraft mac n cheese or in your case nearly 10 bucks for some refresco  Pura vida.

My favorite burger in San Jose is Tico Hamburguesa for sure. Avoid the triple, it's messy, way too much salsa rosada.

For those of you guys wanting to try something a little different...buffalo burgers at a place called Bufalo Grill & Market in Santa Ana. Nice big juicy burgers, about $15.

Prices get steep once you get past rice and beans. Plus it's not like have water buffaloes roaming the streets of CR.

That area of santa ana all the way through lindora is the biggest slam ever. I never go to those restaurants. Not cause I can't afford them, but seriously, $15 burgers in CR is insane.
