I was looking at condo rentals in Jaco, and I saw on this site that it said " FYI: San José - Caldera highway would Be Closed Starting Sunday Night for 2 weeks".

http://www.hotelcocalandcasino.com/

Is that true? Is it hard/not worth it to go to jaco for now?

Yes, the new road to Jaco was closed at 11pm on Sunday, Feb. 20 and is scheduled to be closed for two weeks. They closed the entire road from the Atenas exit to Orotina. Should open again on March 6 BUT the scheduled closures sometimes run long so keep an eye/ear out. The transit police have a website with all road closures and damage at http://www.transito.go.cr/estadorutas/index.html for future reference.

The Transito website wasn't available this morning--keep trying though.

I came back to the airport yesterday after the toll road had closed. No big deal; using the old route added about a half hour to the transit time (2 hours vs. 1 1/2 hours).

Thanks guys. Good info. I've never heard of an entire major highway being closed down for weeks!

Or the phrase, "Muy Tico". Can take some getting used to, and Type "A" personalities are advised to check that baggage at the entry point of choice.
