By not wasting my time chasing any Gringa's once I am home, thus saving funds so the next trip comes even sooner.

By checking air fares daily for a deal

trying to convince my boss to open a branch office in SJ

Learning Spanish

I agree with the other posts. It can be quite depressing. I went once a year for a couple of years and now I'm up to three trips a year and I'm leaving next week for 10 days. I have been fortunate enough to catch some $199 flights out of houston a couple times a year. You sound like me and my friends. It has ruined us as far as women in the states.

I started out 5 years ago with 2 trips a year. Now doing 6 a year.
I am not a drug user but I have compassion for addicts. I am addicted to CR. Save your money and feed your 'habit'. It is great stuff! :D

I've only been able to grab the $199 flight once in two years,...they dont offer it too often. Your in Houston?

I started my monger career in May 2010 and so far I've been to CR 4 times, Campo Alegre twice and Mexico once, all in 10 months, I guess you could say I got it bad, just got back two weeks ago and I am already a little depressed.

Save that gringa-no-sex-money for a couple of rounds with a hot Nica or Tica.

The hardest part is remembering that SJO is fantasy and and an escape from the humdrum, and that we have to live some part of our lives outside (but planning for) the next fantasy voyage. The Brother is right in saying there is no adequate way of explaining the experience to friends who haven't been down. Even the HDR/Blue Marlin Webcam doesn't do it justice.

That's pretty much what I've been doing since I got back. Between not being hit on by 19-20 year old chicas, all the gringas gordas and all the damn snow, I'm likely to end up depressed

I've got two buddies I'm trying to convince to take the next trip with me.

Go back every chance you get!!!!

My first trip was in Feb '05 and then I made about 16 more trips that year. I was checking for airfare specials out of Newark two or three times daily. If I found anything for less than $250, I was on a plane that weekend. I would take Fridays off and fly out Thursday on the 5:35PM Continental direct flight and returned Sunday evening unless Monday was a Holiday.
By 10:15PM, if there was nothing worthwhile in the SL when I checked in, I was either walking into Idem or checking out the talent in Del Rey or Key Largo.

In those days, fortunately, between the SL and Castillo I was always able to get a room. That was then. Now you need reservations four to six months in advance.

Get there are much as you can and eventually the withdrawals will lessen in intensity. Besides, you'll run out of money a little faster...
