Boyd: I am glad you came forward and cleared up the muddy waters. Based on your description of events, I will make alternate accommodations the next time I am in SJ. Good luck buddy, I am sure you have landed on your feet! :D

Don't think they are gonna attract the "high rollers" they are thinking. I'm thinking Boyd could have probably built a game on his reputation, but now think the DI casino will be just another card room...

I do hope the eco-tourist, backpacker crowd enjoys the new casino and hi-priced restaurant at the DI... My experience is that they are tighter than the bark on a tree... 8)

Funny how the owners build a place which seems to cater to the CRT type of client, then run-off the main draw for that group... This is a prime example of the fact that people do business with people, not establishments... Loyalties to friends and brothers is thicker than those to a place... Especially when a betrayal of trust takes place where a man's integrity is questioned as a ploy to effect termination of employment... Your revenge will be watching the DI decline without your guidance...

Best wishes moving forward Boyd...

That tells me all I need to know about how they value our business.

+1. Let's see how many "high-rollers" they attract versus how many CRTers they lose.

BK - you got a new client for the Clarion. I've never stayed there, but no time like the present to experience a new place, right? ;)

MH,
The rooms are nice and very spacious.

The only issue I ever had there were the fitted sheets being a bit too small for mattress, so if there was movement on the bed ( ), they would slide off and you'd end up on the bare mattress. But I think BKT said that they have corrected the mattress issues.

You will like it.

In fact, on Tuesday I walked down to the Clarion from the DI to check the restaurant, etc. Out. I assume it's girl friendly. Does anyone know the approximate cost per room? I assume there will be a 10% CRT discount.

I destroyed my CRT card before the huge secondary screening hassle in Denver. Call me paranoid, but they ask about every shred they don't understand.

What exactly is a high roller anyway?

For a good example of how CRT can affect a small place, take a look at the bar business at the SL on a weekday. Even when you consider it slow, most small bar owners would give their right arm for that amount of regular daytime business. Why? Bill has always been consistent. And legs get tired on a bar stool. :D You don't think some of that crowd would have wandered over to stretch the legs and grab a drink at the DI?

Next time check with Boyd, I think he mentioned before that some people keep their cards on site in CR so as not to be found by significant others. He might still be able to line something up for you along those lines.

Boyd,my friend,I am truly sorry for the ordeal that you have been subjected to. It is common knowledge that you (along with Bill from the SL)are among the classiest gentlemen that have decided to make Costa Rica their home. I am happy that you landed on your feet and I wish you all the best in your new venture.

Hell, I proudly present mine, with "lifetime member" on the back of it. When the TSA/CBP officers ask me about it, I say "go, and you'll become a lifetime member too". They usually give a big smile. Once, a CBP officer looked over at his buddy and said "I TOLD you we need to go to Costa Rica".

SR

Great line Brother Srilm. About meeting--I'll be in CR in 3 months and hopefully every 3 months thereafter. About CRT--We are a gentleman's information and service organization, right? We don't advocate anything to anybody that doesn't find us first--at least I'm careful to qualify a guy before running my mouth. And start the convo with extolling the virtues of fishing and/or medical/dental care. Being blatantoff the jump doesn't work, not for me anyway.

Just as I thought!

Boyd, I appreciate you clearing up the rumors. I agree with the rest of the posts and wish you all the best. I'll see you soon and can bet on seeing me patronizing the Clarion.
