Tax Police Seizes 3,000 Sex Toys At San José AirportInside Costa RicaIt was a tough job, but someone had to do it as PolicÃa de Control Fiscal (Tax Police) confiscated a shipment containing 3.000 erotic adult toys that apparently someone wanted to bring into the country without paying the import tax. Costa Rican authorities say the shipment arrived on a flight from Los Angeles, California and was found waiting in the bonded warehouse at the Juan Santamaria (San José) international airport.
Authorities decided to take a look at the shipment that the documentation said contained hair products, such as combs and clips.
To their surprise, inspectors found dildos, vibrators, oils and gels for adult use. According to the director of the PolicÃa Fiscal, Luis Alonso Bonilla, import taxes on adult toys are much higher that women's hair products. In addition, the shipment did not count with the required Ministerio de Salud (Health) permits and is not in the hands of the Ministerio Publico to determine what charges will be laid and what to do with the products.
