They would not need his ID but they would need a membership card to get into the store and to checkout. Unusual that a tourist would have a Pricesmart membership card as they only operate outside the U.S.

Well said. The safes aren't for Ambiance...I'm staying there later this week and looking forward to it.

It is also possible that an employee elsewhere- restaurant or purchase elsewhere got access to his number and had someone on the inside at Pricemart run the charges.

I have seen several examples of false-misplaced accusations here in the last 5 years. One guy got a girl banned from a hotel for stealing his cellphone only to later find it under the bed.

This is the first report of theft at the HLH. Excuse me, suspected theft. I don't think the entire CRT membership of 10,000 plus guys should blackball a sponsor for one suspected allegation.

I feel you!! Its messed up that someone went through my friends stuff....but if he had used the safe then that could have been avoided!! I don't trust people so in the 3 times I've stayed there nothing like this has happened!......

I'll tell you this though..you may say don't blackball them......but BOTTOM LINE...this DID happen....someone DID go through his stuff, and use his card!! So then if you choose to stay there understand that someone is untrustworthy, and may go through your stuff!

More bad press that the HLH can do without at this point...

This could happen at any hotel. Most of the maids are very honest, but when you make very little money and you have the common perception that all gringos are rich and can afford it, the temptation may be too much. I spend a lot of time securing my goods and money, but sometimes you may forget to do things, especially if you have p*ssy on your mind. I still would stay at HLH, but would be careful. Also I always tip the maids adequately and try to make friends with them and remember their names. They just might be a little less likely to rip off a guy that they perceive is not an a**hole.
