GOOD NEWS for those of us with Nica novias amigovias amantes and favoritas!

Nature Air is now flying to Managua from Pavas on the cheap...just today I say flights as little as 68 dollars e/w... I took COPA from SJO to MGA last summer.(about an hour). I used miles but it would have cost me over 330 cash. I have also taken the BUS... (about 10 hours plus border time)

I am glad for the BUS experience...but once in a lifetime is enough!

Flights begin March 2 subject to government approval. That $68.00 o/w fare quickly becomes almost $245.00 r/t when you add taxes and fees.

Here's some info posted in today's Inside Costa Rica:

Costa Rica's Nature Air Adds Managua Destination

The world’s first carbon-neutral airline, Costa Rica's very own regional airline, Nature Air, has added a new scheduled route between San José and Managua, Nicaragua. Nature Air is working directly with Nicaragua’s Tourism Board INTUR to offer additional services to visitors including ground transportation and vacation packages to the popular cultural and historic centres of Granada and Leon, as well as natural destinations like Masaya, the islands of Ometepe, and the beach and surf town of San Juan del Sur.

“Costa Rica has been one of the most popular holiday destinations in recent years, and neighbouring countries like Nicaragua have seen a significant amount of visitors travelling over the border to visit nearby tourist destinations,” Nature Air’s Claire Saylor said. “With increasingly shorter vacations and greater expectations from travellers, Nature Air recognizes the need to offer more flights in Central America,” she added.
"We are the only airline offering the flexibility of departures from both San Jose and Liberia, Costa Rica, en route to our final destination: Nicaragua" , says Nature Air on its website.

Flights to Managua start at us$55 from the Liberia airport. In its promotion the airline stresses the difference between driving and flying. Driving to Managua from San Jose takes about 8 to 10 hours, 5 from Liberia, while flying is only 90 minutes from San José and 30 from Liberia.
