The best price I have found is at McDonalds. They always have a C1000 specials that last for months. Right now the special is their quarter pounder. They do have good meat. The best Burger is at SL with fries C4000. $8. and is not in the gulch.

I started a new tread because the other is outdated and has turned into a free for all. Please add if you have any positive info on burgers. Start a new tread if your info is negitive.

As well one of the best steaks is at Sportsmans. Only 9000 colon if you use your CRT card but he's really taking a beating at that price so I always make sure I get some drinks on the tab.

I am not terribly picky and have eaten suitable hamburgers at a number of places in SJ. the only one that sticks out and I ordered many times was the burger at the Del Rey. Take into account that this was 7 years or so ago. Don't know if it is still the same. We are lucky in Jaco, I can find a few burgers I really enjoy here. Although, you will pay the price for a good one these days.

I like the burger at Hamburger Factory. It's a fast food place, so if you're looking for gourmet, look elsewhere. And as long as you limit how much salsa (ketchup/mayo/mustard/bbq) they put on it, it's ok. I usually get it dry and put some ketchup on it myself. If you let them put a lot, the burger may slide out of the bun when you're eating it.

My burger experience is at the Bar Poas and Hamburger Factory. Poas better, but HF good.

Yeah....I like the Hamburger Factory burger, as well. Gordon [of New York Bar fame] who lived close to the Hamburger Factory and ate there often, gave me a good tip as to how to order the burger.......instead of ketchup [they use the sweet, vinegarless, tico variety of ketchup].......tell them to put the barbecue sauce on it. It makes for a really tasty burger.

To reiterate Thirdworld, Amigos in Jaco has a good burger, so does the Hookup bar at Los Suenos. There are nothing better than these options in San Jose. Sportsmens is OK, but standard cooked from frozen fare, nothing to write home about. Good value though for the price. There is a place called 'Doc Browns' in Sabana that is pretty good and I can't recommend Time Out Tavern since its way too expensive for the dive place that it is.

There is a new 24 hour place a block west of the Poas, attached to the Hotel Marrucos, a Comida Rapida place. They advertise an 800 colony hamburger, but haven't tried it yet. I've liked there other stuff. All of their equipment is new and commerical grade. The cops flock to the place afterhours, (there were 7 there when I went home around midnight.

This is veering off subject, but I did find a nice landing strip the last time at the KL. It was such a nice surprise that I came back for seconds two days later. If only the girls would wear a button that says "Yes, I have bush!" I am tired of stubble burns on my chin.
By the way, the hamburgers at the Dunn Inn are great, IMHO.

Sportsmans still has the best. They have raised the price to 4475 colons. McDonalds' Special right now is a triple cheeseburger with Bacon 1050 colons. there is more bacon on each burger than any american breakfest in SJ.
