I've been thinking about finally saying 'goodbye' to Bill Gates and Microsoft, and entering the world of Apple. I have Vista as the OS now. Vista is a joke. Worse than XP. I haven't moved up to Windows 7 yet, as I'm thinking of getting an iMac. Any comments from iMac owners would be appreciated. Do you have the 21.5" screen or the 27"? Damn, that 27" screen is huge! Do you have the i3, i5 or i7 processor? I do like the fact that you can boot up in either Windows or the Mac OS (Snow Leopard). Maybe I should hold off until later this year, when Intel is supposed to introduce a new chip set ('Sandy Bridge').

Funny, I just had a conversation tonight with my brother regarding his iPad. He's having trouble getting about 1600 ebooks I sent him to transfer to his iPad. All this itunes shit and he can't just access his hard drive on the iPad without hacking it and the iBooks app doesn't read mobi books, etc..etc..

Me... I've got my first computer in the early 80's and I never looked back. I used to have a bunch of Atari computers but in the early 90's I eventually got a PC and although windows can be a bitch sometimes, I still prefer it over the restricted and over-priced apple shit. Windows 7 is MUCH better then Vista... believe me. Almost all the annoying shit in Vista has been taken out.

Honestly, I just don't get the whole Mac thing. You can do anything with a PC and most of it you can find free.

And consider the latest version (called a "distro") of Ubuntu Linux. Not nearly as techy a GUI as it used to be.
I also agree that Win7 even the starter versions in netbooks, is a good OS. Vista came close to sinking MicroSquish.

Yes, I have a Mac. Have used it for several years with no spybots, no viruses, no issues at all. Don't know what the OS is.

I goy a MAC last year 21.5" screen. I just get on and go. It's the same speed all the time. Those days of trying to clean junk out of my computer seem to be over. I really like the one I have.

Have owned a 21" screen IMAC for 3 o 4 years now and LOVE IT. Fires up in a matter of seconds, no virus issues and simply a fabulous piece of equipment. Since the IMAC I have gone basically all Apple with a recently purchased MacBook Pro, Imac...Iphone and countless Ipods.

One can have the best of both worlds in the newer Macs with Intel processors. Apple OS and software in one partition and Windows natively (not a mere emulator) in another. Your choice of OS at bootup. And while Brother Srilm and others are correct about a limited selection of software for the iMac, download.com has some shareware available.

Not only that, they now have an AppStore for the Mac. There will be more software than you can imagine. Also, most of the major software is available for the Mac. There really is no more lack of software.

Apple is set to refresh their line so you may want to hold off. Also, there may be an additional delay because Intel is having trouble with their new chip set "Sandy Bridge". Check the following link:

One impressive thing about iMacs is that the screens are IPS (in-plane switching), which are superior to 'regular' screens/monitors. Usually the IPS monitors cost double what the non-IPS screens cost. I just wonder if they are really worth paying twice as much. I could understand if you were doing graphic-intensive work, otherwise I'm not sure.
