IF you have Delta sky miles, there are many dates to SJO from almost all areas of the USA for 35,000 miles. I checked for Feb 1, returning Feb 14 from JFK, DFW, SFO, & ATL to SJO.

If you don't have miles with Delta then you may be able to get both of the following credit cards, each rewarding 20,000 and 25,000 miles for joining.

This should be enough miles for a free ticket.

Yep nice to see that for a change, also 35k to PTY or SDQ, & 50k to POP.

I have used and abused this program. Everyone in my family as well as friends and employees, I have had get these cards , use the miles and then cancel the card if need be .

I and about 5 of my friends and family have flown for free with these miles.

Also , Continental has a Mastercard offer for 20,000 mile sign on bonus that gives a free trip it MDE fro SJO. And this ticket is hardly never less than five hundred bucks.

If you do a date spread on Delta, they have low, medium and high for using mileage. They currently have no blackout dates, but it could cost up to 67,000 miles for a high date from CHI - SJO

Yeah, they used to have almost every day as "high" . Now only Sundays returning are "high".

I just did book a ticket for my brother arriving Feb 1st , returning Feb 8th. ATL to SJO, for 35,000 miles.

Booked my trip with Continental miles from Houston for $48 in late Feb. Will call a day before and if any first class are open, should be able to upgrade for $50.

I got the 25,000 free miles from the Capital One m/c & when I searched for fares on Delta, it kept giving me a cost of 60,000 miles to SJO. The cost was the same to Manila, so I booked that instead.

Delta's 35k deals are fading away as Presidents' day and Spring break (month of March) approaches, guess I'll have to take advantage :) ... Also a new seating section coming- https://www.delta.com/traveling_checkin ... omfort.jsp
