Spirit just began a sale last night. When I checked this morning, their price was $328 - $368. When I went to their site, I could have booked from $245 - $285. I carry luggage so I had to figure that in. They offered $49 & $9 fares.

Watching the other airlines, their prices went up $10 - $60, but there are flights around the 1st of Jan. that are still in the $450 range.

Prices for some food and beer have increased slightly.

I did book on Delta for $350.00, some dates are $400.00. Interestingly, prices dropped within 30 days of departure, something that is a first in my short travel experience to SJO.

Flights from ORD to SJO on Continental, AA and Delta for Thur. Feb 3 to Mon. Feb 7 just dropped to $400 on Kayak. I booked my tickets on Continental around Nov. 15 and price was $435. I check about once a week to see what the prices are doing. Each time I have checked, the price on Continental was still at $435.....very surprised when I saw all 3 at $400 yesterday.

Hey Trim, AA is doing the same. I think until 3/15, round trip about $400. This is down from $445 where they were. Will it go down more? To us used to $275, this is still up. I would say if you found a flight around $325 to $350, jump on it. Spirit keeps coming up on Kayak but $10 per seat assignment and $30 (guess) per bag, adds $100 automatically. Have a Merry Xmas gents. May your "Stocking Stuffer" see a happy new year.

Forgot to check into this thread again after I had posted earlier, but it seems that there just aren't any great deals out there anymore from the Chicago/Detroit area. I'm right in the middle of Chicago/Detroit/Indianapolis, and everything seems to be hovering between $420 and $480 with occasional dips near $400 and occasional jumps to $500.

Lots of options on times and even connections, but not a lot of price variance. Tico Travel did me right last time around with a killer price, but even they don't have any great deals at the moment. I'm not seeing any sort of drop off for off season prices either.

Price staying steady currently with about $50 increase once inside of 2 week advance. Perhaps getting the credit card and extra miles is a good way to go.

I actually I have found that flights from Chicago to SJO have gone down in price recently. I am coming to SJ next week and this flight which I booked 4 months ago is over 100 bucks more that what I find now for flights to SJO in 3 months. I made the mistake of booking when AirMex was out of business. Since they came back prices seem to be dropping. I don't take AirMex because they never have times I want but having them in the market seems to lower prices.

But I am now looking for a flight from Chicago to POP in just over 3 months. Those flights gone way up since the so-called cheapie lines seem to have dropped out of the market, about a month ago. Again I don't take them but it helps to have them in the market. I am hoping the price comes back down in 2 weeks or else I'll just book at the high price. The price has dropped a bit the last few days. But if anyone knows where to get a good price on Chicago to POP I would appreciate it.

I know guys that say they booked with them. Their name is on on-line booking sites. I assume they have some kind of agreement and when you book with them you get another line.

This happened when I went to Amsterdam. I thought I had a great package on KLM. That's what I booked. But when I got to my flight it turned out to be on UAL. Could you imagine what kind of dissapointment that was? They had some kind of deal, but I was so dissapoinred I didn't listen to what it was all about.

I just saw AirMex flights Chicago-SJO on 2 sights. I called and was told for sure its AirMex. I haven't looked at their Web-Site. But somebody is using the name.

Just checked CHI-SJO right now, Continental at $334.00 RT 3/30 - 4/06 or 3/28 -04/07 Also further out to Return Trip 4/14; Depart date 4/06. ...seems like great airfare rates for April...go for it fast.

Nice find! Looks like those prices go through most of May as well. Not Memorial Day weekend though :(

Aeromexico still in business. Mexicana no mas. Next time you land in SJO you'll see a couple parked on the ramp west of the terminal. If it's still there, one of the 737's was repossesed by an old flying buddy of mine.SR

All right---me so stupid. I never use them so I get them confused. But since I know many people who have taken both I should have known better.
