Go to the movies and order "palomitas con caramelo"---fresh caramel popcorn. Good and pretty cheap too.

You can take a date to the movies in CR for about $15 total. It's almost $15 for 1 ticket here.

Well, yes, and the first order of biz would be to flush the present owner down the crapper. Sideline biz: Towel boy at La Mansion so I can sniff Janette's poosy some more--damn is it sweet.
NOTE: "Jass' was the first spelling of America's only native art form and it was a synonym for phucking, as the music originated in whore houses. You are quite welcome.

Amigo, did you check the weather here before posting this?? You sound like the Chinese tiendas here--they no longer have "para aquas" because the rain season is over!! Guess what? It has rained everyday but one of the last 7 days--started again late last night and is still raining at 2pm today. I have gotten wet 3 times in the last week because "" I listened to you""  :P  Just kidding amigo! I had brain farts and forgot to take my umbrella with me.
Seriously, and surprising!!! The weather service stated back in late September that the rainy season would last much later this year. Like till early December! Surprise is they were correct!!!

Lake Arenal.
Bonus trivia question: many years ago there used to be a small "lake" in Gringo Gulch, where was it?

Are movies in English? Do the chicas charge extra to go to the movies in addition to the $15 quoted? If not what kind of service does the $15 get you? Is that $15 USA money or Costa Rica money?

Well here's a different 1st post for you. The answers: no--it's a Spanish-speaking country/Depends on the relationship/a brilliant smile/"$" is USD; otherwise he'd most likely said colones.
