OK, I admit that the Prez is my regular spot, but I've been giving this some thought. Some of the other hotels favored on this site are "monger" hotels. Yes, I'm a monger, but not to the degree that I want to hang out with only mongers (the males) and only hookers (the females). I like the "mix" at the Prez. When I've gone to the bar at the Sportmans, I've enjoyed it, but there are only mongers and hookers. That's my take (and there is no vested interest)! I really think they (the Prez) should pay me for my opinions.

I always enjoyed the Prez, in the past I, we,(my group which sometimes numbered as many as 6) must have stayed there over a hundred times, bringing many, many thousands of dollars to their coffers. It wasn't until several years ago, maybe 3? We had problems, I wrote a post about it. We, 3 of us, tried to book our rooms and received three different prices, I called down and still received a different price.
Then with the issue of girls being permanently blacklisted for seemingly BS violations.
With that being said... if you're happy and the Prez and it works for you, it fits your agenda, then thats all thats important. I would love to go back and stay there, but it just does'nt work for me or any of my friends. Hopefully with economy still in the toilet, maybe they'll come around again, re-visit some of the their policies and price structure.

True enough that the SL has a frat-house atmosphere, but the Dunn Inn, La A and other venues mentioned and praised here, don't. Hey whatever works for you, works for you--this is just a discussion of various alternatives. By the way, what's the Balmoral's policy on the Little Darlings? Totally verboten?

In regards to the BalMoral, we stayed there in the early90s, it was 12$ or 15$ when you had a visitor. It could add up over 5 to 6 days. Plus over several vacations they developed a sh**ty attitude about it. It came with Breakfast, which was crappy, but if you wanted a 2nd of coffee they charged you for it. Thats when we switched to the Prez. I don't know if it is now prohibited. Perhaps ID or BangBang can answer it. I know I haven't stayed there in years out of protest, but we have eaten at the restaurant, which IMHO is ok but way overpriced.

I remember my first trip to CR and I took a tour of the Prez. The dude taking me around kept eyeballing me and I could tell, I wouldn't last one evening there, esp when going out with my hats and glasses. :D Nice bar on the avenida. I am sure it has many more positives as it was a nice place.

Now, the real reason for my post. HikerTom, no phucking way. You paid $95 for a room. I fell out of my chair when I read that line. I immediately called an optometrist and made an appointment to get my eyes checked. :P :P :D

:D That was in 2006, back then the Amistad and Dunn Inn weren't the CRT-places they are now. But that's nothing, for a birthday trip in Feb. '08, I stayed in a ZB suite ($195/night back then) for five nights. And bringing up girls 5, 6 and even 7 at a time!  Was spending money like a drunken sailor, and had to become frugal. Fortunately the "new" Amistad and Dunn Inn are very nice frugal options. :D

I am writing from my hospital bed. I read the above line and passed out. :P  Sometimes, enjoying the fruits of our labor is nice. Now that I know, you owe me a drank next time I see you. And, I am not talking tap water.
