The Palacio casino at the Barcello Hotels is running another tournament Saturday and finals on Sunday. The last one they ran set up 23 tables with $100 entrey fees. They were oversubscibed by quite a few. Scott from the Hotel M is now working on promoting the poker room. The entry fee is going to be $500 plus casino fees. I am told that the starting time is 7pm which is much better than the usual 9pm.

just curious, how long do they play the opening round before a long break....and how long is the break between first and second rounds?

and do they take short breaks every hour/couple of hours of play?

thank you.

All second hand info but from a good source who was reading it in the Tico Times. the house will guarantee $25,000. The event will run down to a certain number Saturday night with the possibly final table on Sunday. (not sure how many will continue on Sunday. I'm not sure how long they will play between breaks.

$25000 to the winner or total pot?

At $500, it will only take 50 players to get up to 25k. I played a $300 tourney and there were over 100 people (I don't remember exactly), so they would easily get 50 at $500.

I'm not sure how that place does it, but usually, they have a preset 'max number of hours of play or down to certain number of players. So lets say 8 hours or down to 18 players, whichever comes first.

And I'm sure they take 10-15 minute breaks every few levels and a lunch/dinner break too.
